The Pirate Way
Hello Pirates!
I cannot believe that we have already completed our first day of registration! It has been exciting to see many of your smiling faces on campus! I hope that you were able to take some time for yourself and recharge for what we know is going to be a great year.
We are looking forward to continuing the positive work that we began last year. This year at OHS we are going to be focusing on the culture of the campus and really emphasizing our PIRATE CORE VALUES- for everyone on campus! Culture is going to be a key point that we will use to anchor all of our practices. Culture will be present in both the activities we have on campus, the customer service we demonstrate, and the relearning of our educational environments. We will be beginning the year with three half days. These are intentional and benefits both students and staff. We are going to leverage these three days to go over all of our PIRATE CORE VALUES in a school wide learning opportunity. Where every Pirate on campus will receive the valuable information to be both successful as a Pirate, but also to understand what it really means to be a Pirate! Students will experience this in the classroom as well as in the three assemblies we have set up for the first three days. Staff will also benefit from the half days by continuing some very valuable staff professional development. Just like our students we strive to continue to grow our practices to make OHS the best it can be.
As we all know we have been through three very different years with the pandemic. We want to make sure that we positively benefit from these years and we make changes that will improve the success of all students at OHS. Success while they are here at OHS, but also as they build the skills to make them successful after they leave OHS. There are two areas at OHS we will be focusing on to help improve our overall learning environment. We will be implementing a new policy in regards to cell phones and electronic devices as well as enforcing our tardy policy on campus. Although technology can, and has, brought us many amazing benefits it can also be a major distraction. Making sure that students and staff are on time and that there is no cell phone/electronic usage during class time is an area we know we can leverage to relearn and recreate our learning environment that will prove to be positive and successful for our students. We appreciate your support in these two areas as we strive to create the best possible learning environment for every student at OHS!
We know this is going to be a great year. We are so excited to see all of our students and staff back on campus. Enjoy the next 12 days and we will see you soon!
Pirates you are a part of something big! You belong and will always belong in the Oceanside High School Pirate Community. What an amazing feeling to realize you belong to something bigger than the individual Pirate, but rather part of a 100 year plus Pirate Ship Community!
Regardless of where you may go and no matter what you end up accomplishing the one thing that you have to count on is that you will ALWAYS be a PIRATE!
Stay safe! Know you are loved and belong to the Pirate community - this is the Pirate Way!

Chrome Device Protection
We are excited for another year of providing OUSD students with Google Chrome devices. Beginning August 2022, Oceanside Unified School District will be offering a new OUSD Chrome Device Protection Program to our families. We will no longer be working in partnership with the company School Device Coverage. If you received an email from School Device Coverage in regards to open enrollment, please disregard it.
Details about our new OUSD Chrome Device Protection Plan can be found on the Information Technology Services page located at oside.us/its. If you have any questions, please contact the OUSD ITS department at 760-966-4098 or email deviceprotectionplan@oside.us.
