Bencik's Buzz
Hometown Families:
Welcome back from the extended week. We hope all who celebrated Easter enjoyed the time with their families and took advantage of the warm weather. It is great to see the sunshine! We have about 37 school days left. We are excited to have all of your children celebrate all of their learning.
Autism Awareness Week
Please see the attached document for dress up days for next week. We will be celebrating autism awareness with some fun dress up days.
Sweetheart Dance
Just a reminder the dance for our Hometown girls and their prince charming is this Friday, April 14th. We are excited to see everyone at 6pm.
Penny Wars
Our PTA will be hosting a fundraiser. We are hoping to raise enough money to purchase field day shirts for all of our students. We will host a Penny Wars. Please see the flyer for more information.
IAR Testing
Our students in grades 3-5 will be taking the IAR starting on April 13, 14, 18. Please make sure your students bring headphones, they have a healthy breakfast, and get a good nights sleep.

Returning Registration- 2023-24
Returning registration opens tomorrow. Any family returning to Hometown next year, must register. Families should log onto Skyward and click the tab on the left side to re-register.
CASE - ESY
If you have not turned in your forms for ESY, they were due last week. Please send in a response whether you are attending or not.
Calling All Kindergarten Families for the 2023-24 School Year
If you will have a child that will turn 5 by September 1st, please begin registration for the upcoming school year.

Chair Needed- Muffins and Misses
We are in need of a chairperson for muffins and misses. Our board will work to help any person willing to be the chairperson for this event. We need a chairperson by April 21st or we will be forced to cancel the event.
Summer School
Please consider signing up for summer school. There are many different offerings for our students to take advantage of . The flyer is attached. There is also a paper copy.
SAVE THE DATE
Our kindergarten open house will be on May 24th from 6:00-7:30. We hope to see all of our new families.

Moving?
If you are moving over the summer and will not be returning to Hometown, please fill out the flyer and return it to the office. We would like to be prepared for you with transfer paperwork.
Teacher Spotlight: Five Fun Facts About Your Teacher
Five Fun Facts about Mrs. Malone:
1. I grew up in Massachusetts and went to college in Boston before moving to Chicago in 2000.
2. I was an aquatic science educator for more than 10 years and have worked with everything from alligators, snakes, and insects, to penguins, sea turtles and dolphins.
3. I love to garden, and grow cucumbers, garlic, tomatoes, chili peppers, squash, chives, basil, oregano, mint and a variety of flowers every summer.
4. I enjoy drawing and painting and, over the years, have created murals for schools, offices and even my niece's bedroom.
5. We are huge sports fans in my house...Blackhawks, Bruins, Bears, Patriots, Cubs, Red Sox!
