IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Steger Intermediate Center – AM Drop off & PM Pick up Procedures – 22/23
Student Safety is our main concern – PLEASE drive slowly within school zones!
AM Drop Off
1. Supervision begins at 7:30 am. Students should not be dropped off before this time, and cannot enter the building until 7:30 am.
2. School buses will drop students off at the circle drive on the east side of the school. Parents cannot drop students off in this area.
3. Hopkins Street is one way, going North, at drop-off and pick-up times. There is no parking along the West side of Hopkins so that traffic can move along easily and safely - please adhere to this procedure.
4. There is no parking along Hopkins in the morning from 7:30 am – 8:00 am. If you must visit the office during this time, please park along 35th, or at the Community Center Parking lot.
5. Parents may drop students off at any point along the east side of Hopkins, or along 35th Street, to avoid the line. Make sure students are ready to exit the vehicle on the passenger side only of the car once you stop; let’s keep the line moving!
6. Walking students are also crossed in front of the main school entrance from the alleyway. Please drive slowly and obey the staff crossing guard’s directions. SAFETY FIRST!
7. A crossing guard, hired by the SPD, will assist students crossing Steger Rd and Hopkins St. Please obey directions and drive slowly!
8. All walkers and car riders will enter the building using the main entrance on Hopkins St.
9. Remember that school starts PROMPTLY at 8:00 am. Students are Tardy if they arrive at school after 8:00 am. Please see our Handbook for more information regarding being Tardy to School.
PM Pick Up
1. Dismissal is at 2:30 pm (Except for Wednesday we dismiss at 1:30); all walkers/car riders will dismiss from the 3 entrances in the front of the school.
2. School buses will exit the school from the circle drive on the east side of the school. Parents cannot pick up students in this area.
3. Hopkins Street is one way, going North, at drop-off and pick-up times. There is no parking along the West side of Hopkins so that traffic can move along easily and safely. Please adhere to this procedure.
4. Parents should arrange a pick-up location with their student ahead of time. You can pick students up:
● In front of the school along Hopkins. Please pull into the spots and do not block the sidewalk when you park; please arrive early so that you can park safely before students are dismissed. PLEASE BACK OUT SAFELY
● Along 35th Street
● At the Community Center Parking Lot
● On Hopkins Street, North of Steger Road; a SPD hired crossing guard will cross students at Steger Road and Hopkins.
The first few days of school are always busy as students, parents, and staff are learning new procedures. Thank you to all the Steger 194 families for your patience during this time.

La seguridad de los estudiantes es nuestra principal preocupación: ¡POR FAVOR maneje despacio dentro de las zonas escolares!
Entrega a la mañana
1. La supervisión comienza a las 7:30 am. No se debe dejar a los estudiantes antes de esta hora y ellos no pueden ingresar al edificio hasta las 7:30 am.
2. Los autobuses escolares dejarán a los estudiantes en el camino circular en el lado este de la escuela. Los padres no deben dejar a los estudiantes en esta área.
3. Hopkins Street es una calle de un solo sentido, hacia el norte, en los horarios de entrega y recogida. No hay estacionamiento a lo largo del lado oeste de Hopkins para que el tráfico pueda moverse con facilidad y seguridad; cumpla con este procedimiento.
4. No hay estacionamiento a lo largo de Hopkins por la mañana de 7:30 a. m. a 8:00 a. m. Si debe visitar la oficina durante este tiempo, estacionese a lo largo de la calle 35th o en el estacionamiento del Centro Comunitario.

Recogida por la tarde
1. La salida es a las 2:30 pm (Excepto los miércoles, salimos a la 1:30); todos los peatones/automóviles saldrán por las 3 entradas en el frente de la escuela.
2. Los autobuses escolares saldrán de la escuela por el camino circular en el lado este de la escuela. Los padres no pueden recoger a los estudiantes en esta área.

4. Los padres deben coordinar un lugar de recogida con su estudiante con anticipación. Puedes recoger a los alumnos:
● En frente de la escuela a lo largo de Hopkins. Deténgase en los lugares y no bloquee la acera cuando se estacione; llegue temprano para que pueda estacionarse de manera segura antes de que los estudiantes salgan. POR FAVOR VUELVA A SALIR CON SEGURIDAD
● A lo largo de la calle 35
● En el estacionamiento del Centro Comunitario
● En Hopkins Street, al norte de Steger Road; un guardia de cruce contratado por SPD cruzará a los estudiantes en Steger Road y Hopkins.
