Centennial: COVID-19 Update
March 19, 2020
Remote Learning
School is closed until April 3, but Remote Learning starts next Monday, March 23!
Our teachers are working hard to launch their lessons and resources for students this week, and their interactions will begin next Monday. Information on Chromebook checkout will be coming soon.
Updates from the District
In the event that school closing extends beyond April 3, we will update our online learning plan to support a longer term continuity of learning. We will continue to provide you with ongoing updates. Thank you for your understanding and kind notes in thinking of us.
Meal Assistance
We want to make sure that all students have access to meals during the district’s closure. To get the week started, Plano ISD is providing free grab-and-go breakfast and lunch at five locations across the district beginning Monday, March 16. Adjustments to this schedule may be made as needed, so please watch for updated communications and regularly check the Plano ISD website for new information.

Supporting Student Learning from Home
How will I support my student’s learning and instruction from home during the closure?
- Plano ISD provides many digital tools to support in-class learning, and our students will have access to these resources which are aligned to their classes through the PISD Webdesk and the student digital backpack. Directions to access these resources from home can be found HERE.
- Set aside time each day during the school closure for practice, extension and enrichment utilizing provided resources.
- Choose something to read with your student, or provide time for self-selected reading every day.
- More information will be shared to support student learning in the event that the school closure lasts beyond April 3rd.
Family/Community Resources
This week we launched a Family Resource page on the district’s website. This page provides a searchable list that families, community members and school staff can utilize to help find community resources in order to meet a family’s needs. The list is searchable by agency name, zip code and category. Categories include such areas as basic needs (food assistance, housing assistance), health care (medical, dental, vision), and mental health (substance abuse, counseling, etc.).
The family resource page can be found at https://www.pisd.edu/familyresources
