Kylie Fortuna & Anthony Sena have been working so hard in their 1st grade Reading Block. They are both attacking grade-level text with veracity! Their focused work in phonics, high frequency words, and their movement & brain exercises are certainly paying off. Keep up the great work!

Students in preschool went to watch the trucks deliver mulch for the new playground when they were asked by Ms. Tapper-Racine (School Librarian) asked them to join for a story.

Students in Ms. Luongo's class got to spend story time in the library with Oakie this week.

Students in grade 4 got to carve pumpkins and then showcase them for the rest of the school as part of there Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular.

M2 worked on a pumpkin themed STEM building activity last week. The students were given the choice of either building the tallest or the most complex structure using only toothpicks and candy pumpkins. The structure had to be able to stand independently. The students in M2 came up with some very original ideas and had a blast doing it! It seems as though we have some talented engineers-in-training in our class! Amazing job M2 students!!!

Students in grades 1-4 attended a Fire Safety Assembly put on by Dighton Fire Department. Student were taught what to do in a fire, how to have a safe place to meet, and other important information. Even Oakie joined in the fun.

Our new playgrounds are almost complete. We can't wait for next week!!!!

Last weekend former and current DR as well as Family and Friends of Rosie Borden dedicated a Buddy Bench, in her memory, to the students at DES. Please enjoy the story "Buddy Bench" which explains the meaning behind the Buddy Bench. Each classroom also received their own copy.

• We are looking for students, family, and faculty/staff volunteers to join a Portrait of a Graduate creation committee.

What: We are working to create a “Portrait of a Graduate'' (PoG) for the Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District. A Portrait of a Graduate acts as a North Star to help families, students, community members, faculty, staff, and administrators stay focused on what we want all Dighton Rehoboth students to know and be able to do when they graduate after a PK - 12+ journey. The committee we are forming will work with DRRSD leaders, as well as coaches from Great Schools Partnership, to help to shepherd the process of creating the Portrait of a Graduate using feedback from across our community. This will be the springboard to strategic planning during the 2023-2024 school year.

Who: You! We are working to ensure we have community, student, and faculty/staff voice on the PoG committee.

When: We are hoping to launch this team by the end of November or beginning of December, and we will engage in the process of creating the PoG throughout the 2022-23 school year, culminating in the introduction of the PoG as a districtwide vision and tool for the 2023-24 school year.

How do I get involved? Just send an email with the subject: Portrait of a Graduate to Michele D. Blackburn, mdblackburn@drregional.org. The deadline is November 8, 2022.

Our Career & Technical Education (CTE) Marketing class at DRRHS is working with stakeholders on the ways we can "build our brand" as a district. We also want feedback on communication. Committee members' input will be very helpful in this regard. In addition, it helps our Marketing students obtain relevant experience in working with consumers. To join in on this work, please email our Marketing teacher, Laurene Plourde, lplourde@drregional.org. The deadline is November 8, 2022.

Below, please find our monthly newsletter and flyers for our upcoming events. We have a lot of fun things in the works, and would love to see more parents and staff help with some of those events.

We are also looking for someone to join the Executive Board! We currently have an open position for Treasurer, and need that special someone. Please email us if you have questions about the position, would like to nominate yourself, or know someone that would be the perfect addition.

This Saturday November 5th at 11am we are having our first Santa's Secret Workshop meeting. If you would like to join us and be part of the planning committee for this exciting event, please email us for more details. If you cannot attend this first meeting but would still like to be a part of the planning, contact us and we will add you to our committee email list.

Our 12 Days of Cheer calendar raffle is underway! Printed copies should have come home with your students already. You can make as many copies as you need, and for a paperless option you can also pay through your P4SS account for any amount of calendars. They are $10 each, and include five amazing prizes per day for children and adults. These calendars are open to anyone, so share them with friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc. For every 6 calendars your student sells they will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon gift card.

We are also looking for volunteers for our 4th grade step-up and yearbook committees, family bingo night, and donations for bake sales. Please find the links to sign-up on our newsletter. Without our amazing volunteers these events would not be possible! We hope to see you soon!
