https://parents.c2.genesisedu.net/mendham/sis/view?gohome=true
- Attention parents of Band, Orchestra, and Mountain View Singers students: If you have not done so, please review the communication from Mrs. Carpenter and Mr. McMurray re: High Note Festival, and complete the interest survey as soon as possible. The number of students attending will determine how many buses are required and the final cost of the trip.
- 8th grade parents: The second payment for the trip to Gettysburg/Hershey, in the amount of $159.00, is due by January 27. Please refer to Mrs. Toth's November 7 communication for additional information.
- A reminder that per Board of Education policy 5511, "Dress and Grooming," pajamas (including pajama pants), are not permitted unless specifically stated (ie: designated spirit day).
- With many students receiving new technology for the holidays, Administration would like to remind parents that per BOE policy 5516, cell phones and other electronic communication devices, which includes Smartwatches, must be deactivated and stored in lockers during the school day and during school activities before and after school. Consequences for violating this policy include parent pick-up of the device, detention, and for habitual offenses, in-school suspension. Further, the use/wearing of headphones, including AirPods, in the hallways is not permitted.
A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy Friday Mountain View. I hope everyone had a great week, and is planning on implementing some type of self-care over our three-day weekend. As I mentioned last week, the New Year is a time for new goals and resolutions. It is also a great time to sit down with your kids and go over rules and expectations to help to keep them safe throughout the year and develop good tech habits. My favorite internet safety blog, Screenagers, shared this great article with 11 tips for setting screen time rules with your kids, and getting them involved in the conversation. I love the idea of having a “you show, I observe” time with your kids, to allow you to see what they see when they are scrolling on various social media platforms. This time can be followed up by conversation later that talks about the different things you may have seen, and how your child perceives them and what influence they may have on them. Check out the rest of the tech-tips and see which ones may be helpful to implement in your home. Have a great weekend!
