"Stay in the Loop" 5th Edition
Letter From the Principal
Last Thursday and Friday, Miss Buzenski and I had the opportunity to attend an administrator retreat at Cherry Valley Lodge hosted by the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools. We were encouraged by Bishop Fernandes to continue our mission and remember that we are called to be evangelizing communities who bring about a culture of joy. Bishop Fernandes also said that our faith is Eucharistic: The faith is to be broken and shared, and we can live out this mission through service. It is our hope that our staff and students, through our accreditation goals, professional development, daily work, and prayer will learn to live and model a life of service which brings about a culture of joy. In addition to several talks from Bishop Fernandes, we were able to recharge through time spent in prayer during Adoration and Mass, and time spent in fellowship with other diocesan administrators.

In addition to retakes, students who were absent on the original picture day should be photographed. If this is a retake, please return your original packet and HR Imaging will place the same order again with the new photo.
What Zoos Do!*
Thanks to the generosity of our Home & School Association, and the organizational efforts of Mrs. Suzy Farrell, our students in Pre-K through 6th grade had the opportunity to learn about the importance of zoos while observing numerous animals from the Columbus Zoo. All of the students had the opportunity to touch a snake, some students held large cockroaches (yuck!), and everyone was in awe of the sloth! Be sure to ask your students about this exciting presentation, and click the link below to check out all of our photos!
WCMH News Anchor, Matt Barnes, Visited SPX
Our 6th-8th graders had the privilege of hearing WCMH NBC-4 morning anchor, Matt Barnes, share his personal story of how he went from being a Bishop Hartley graduate to a successful local news personality. Our students had the opportunity to hear all kinds of interesting stories, and they were able to ask him lots of fun questions!

Girls on the Run is a club for our 3rd-5th grade girls that empowers girls to have confidence and learn other valuable life skills. Our club is coached by Mrs. Saddler and Miss Camp, and the girls end their season with a 5K run through downtown Columbus.
This week their lesson focused on emotions. The girls were given the challenge to try to flip a shower curtain over without stepping off of it. If the girls touched the ground, they had to start over. The activity allowed the girls to experience many different emotions: frustrated, annoyed, ignored, and silly! The girls had a blast!

Flu Clinic Offered at SPX*
Dear Parent/Guardian,
It is our pleasure to offer on-site flu vaccinations at your student’s school October 19th. Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and are offered to ALL consented students, regardless of their insurance coverage.
Why get a flu vaccine?
The best way to minimize or avoid the spread of flu is to get an annual flu vaccination. Each year the vaccine protects against new strains, therefore, the vaccine should be administered annually.
Who is Health Heroes, Inc.?
At Health Heroes, we specialize in on-site vaccination clinics. Vaccines are provided as a NO-OUT-OF-POCKET expense to students. We bill both Medicaid and private insurance; however, we never bill students or parents for any out-of-pocket expenses or deductibles. Qualifying uninsured students can be given the vaccine, free of charge. Although student participation is voluntary, these vaccinations are recommended to help keep schools healthy and cut down on high absenteeism.
What type vaccines will be given?
IIV-4 injections will be available to all consented children who do not have any contra-indicators. All vaccines given are preservative-free, mercury-free, Thimerosal-free and administered by state-licensed nurses.
What do you need to do to participate?
If you wish for your child to participate, please COMPLETELY fill out the consent form, Including ALL insurance information (you must have the member ID numbers filled in) and sign the form. If there is no insurance, please mark appropriate box on the form. These forms need to be returned to your child’s school prior to the clinic date to secure a dose for your child.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the Health Heroes at 1-205-609-0268/OH@healthherousa.com. For further information you can also visit our website at www.healthherousa.com. We hope to see your child in clinic!
