Dear Families,
Thank you for the most amazing journey as we have read together, wished together, and planted a beautiful new tree together! Oak Grove’s Multicultural Committee along with the OGSEF wanted to create an experience that all of us could participate in and enjoy. As we began this journey over a year ago, we couldn’t have imagined it would have turned out the way that it has! We were able to listen to readers as they invited us into their homes and introduced us to their families. We created artwork and placed it in windows that connected us as we walked through the neighborhoods. We knew that although we have been physically separated, we were working together, sharing a story, and having rich family discussions. Our hope is that you were able to focus on how our young children, our community, and nature can teach us about inclusion, acceptance, diversity, kindness and the beautiful friendships that can be found here in our Oak Grove community! Please enjoy this video slideshow. A special thank you to Dan Wells and ELAN Landscaping for donating and planting this beautiful tree. Thank you, Dr. Meltzer, for the time you devoted to sharing the chapters and creating this beautiful keepsake to remember the journey we have taken together!
Sincerely,
The Multicultural Committee 2020

Hello Oak Grove Eagles!
We would like to invite you to our Oak Grove virtual town hall meetings. We will be hosting these town halls on May 20th at 6:30 PM and again on May 21st at 6:30 PM. The same information will be presented at each town hall so parents only need to attend one town hall if they would like. We hope to address a variety of topics such as grading, report cards, pick up/drop off plans, student devices, summer programming, etc… We want to best serve our community so please utilize the Google Forms below to register and submit any questions that you have no later than May 17th at 10 PM. You will receive a link to the virtual town hall that you chose on Monday, May 18th.
We hope that these town hall meetings provide some clarity regarding our end of the year procedures and answers any of the questions that you may have for us. Finally, we wish our 8th-grade graduates the best on their future endeavors and we want them to know that Oak Grove will always welcome them back with open arms. To everyone else, we miss you and look forward to the start of the 2020/2021 school year.

Looking for Ideas to Honor Our Retiring Superintendent, Dr. Lemon?
As many of you know, Dr. Lemon is retiring in June and many of you have asked 'what can we do for him to show our appreciation for his leadership'? The school and students in Puerto Vallarta are very near and dear to his heart and he has again sponsored a fundraiser to help them raise money for some new equipment. If you remember, he held a fundraiser back in 2018 to help the school purchase some much needed desks and remarkably raised $15,000 and purchased 150 new desks for these kids! The learning conditions in their school are beyond pitiful. They have no windows in their classrooms, the floors are unpainted cement, the teachers have no supplies, and they have ZERO technology. For the past 8 years, Dr. Lemon and the custodial staff have collected over 30,000 pencils and Dr. Lemon takes them to the school for the kids. On his last visit, he asked the principal what they needed next, and the principal has asked for two desktop computers with printers, two LCD projectors that can be taken to the classrooms on a cart, and two portable microphone systems. Dr. Lemon will fly down and purchase the equipment in Vallarta and purchase them locally, in order to help the local businesses. Dr. Lemon has told me time and time again, he is in need of nothing, that he is already incredibly 'Blessed', (as he would say!) If you would like to give a gift in honor of Dr. Lemon's service to Oak Grove for his retirement, this is the link to his campaign....if you choose to donate, GoFundMe asks for a donation during the transaction to cover their services...do NOT feel obligated to pay it, he and his wife will be taking care of that at the end of the campaign.
We are surely going to miss this guy.
