Collaborative efforts and planning with the LGBTQIA+ Committee have improved protocols and processes for students and families. In compliance with ISBE Guidance, the District has updated the name change and gender identity form. For more information, view the presentation linked here:

In August 2022, the State of Illinois updated the information regarding the adoption of the National Sex Education Standards for Illinois schools. USD116 is currently still teaching the previous standards associated with sexual health through the Illinois Physical Development and Health Standards. We also teach the Illinois Instructional Mandates. USD116 has not adopted the National Sex Education Standards at this time. We are waiting for more guidance and information from the State Board of Education.

At the October 18th Business Meeting, the Board will consider and possibly approve the following:

• Increasing the Daily Sub rate to $150 (without levels)
• Include insurance benefits for Building Based Subs and District Wide Subs
• Create a Stipend Sub Training position

Dr. Franklin will also bring costs to increase the daily sub rate beyond $150 back for the Board's consideration.
