Our school district is participating in the annual 5Essentials Survey. We value parent participation in this survey to guide improvement. The survey is open through March 11th. Salt Creek District 48 is always looking for wonderful substitute educators for our teaching positions, teaching assistants, and lunchroom supervisors. Please make sure to notify Angela Trexler at Stella May Swartz or Angie Holden at Salt Creek if your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early. It is helpful to contact your child's teacher in these matters as well, but it is very important to contact the office! If you have any test results from COVID testing or Doctor's notes, please send those to our nursing staff.

As a reminder, all students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and any new/transfer students are required to have a dental examination on file by May 15th, 2022. The dental exam must be dated between November 15th, 2020 - May 15th, 2022. The link to the Illinois Dental Exam form is below. It is also available on our school website.

It is important to have proof of your student’s COVID-19 vaccination on file for contact tracing purposes. For example, if your student is identified as a close contact in a positive COVID-19 case, but they are vaccinated and remain asymptomatic, they will be cleared to remain in school. This also applies to situations where the student’s sibling exhibits possible COVID-19 symptoms: if your student without symptoms is vaccinated and remains asymptomatic, they may remain in school. If your student’s vaccination status is not documented in their file, we will assume they are not vaccinated and follow the IDPH COVID-19 Protocol accordingly.

We have been running our weekly COVID-19 screening program for a few weeks now. It is a low nasal swab test, and students are in and out quickly. Children registered for testing can even test at school before they are sent home for being a close contact and/or having symptoms. These PCR tests are picked up daily, as needed, and the results come back between 24-48 hours later.

If you have registered for testing, please let Mrs. Smith know if you DO NOT want your child to test weekly!

Mark your calendar! McDonald’s (190 E. Butterfield Rd. in Elmhurst) is partnering with FTC to host a dine-out on Tuesday, March 8. A portion of your order will be donated to our organization. Dinner is planned!!

Reading for Education

FTC has partnered with Reading for Education to bring an amazing opportunity for you to support teachers and the schools. Parents, friends and family can purchase gift certificates for your child's teacher to buy reading materials for the classroom library. There is also an online bookstore where product can be purchased. Both add prize points to your child’s account. Prizes are automatically shipped to school each month as they are earned. At the end of the program, each school will receive 40% of the total gift cards and product purchased. It's a win-win situation! Your child should have brought information home last week.
