Communications Survey
This week, every Oak Grove family will receive a communications survey from the District. We are hoping that you will take 5 minutes to provide us with feedback about your experience this year. We sent a similar survey last year and received great feedback from nearly 300 of our families.
You will receive the survey via email. We ask that you complete it by May 31st. Please only fill out one survey per family. The Board of Education and administrative team will use the information as we plan for next year. Thank you!
2017-18 Registration is Open
Online registration is now open for all students returning to Oak Grove School in 2017-18. We have worked hard to make this process as quick and easy as possible. To register, you will login to our registration system using the student number and 4 digit password for any returning student in your family. Just in case you've misplaced this information, we will be sending you an email with instructions and login credentials.
Once logged in, you will be able to verify or modify the data we have on file for all students in your family, select some optional purchases, and go through the PTO registration process for your family. Once complete, you will be presented with a balance that you can pay online or by check.
IMPORTANT: We ask that all registrations be completed by June 3rd. It is very important that we know who to expect back at Oak Grove so we can create balanced schedules over the summer.

Proof of Residency
Only students who are residents of the District may attend Oak Grove School. A student's residence is the same as the person who has legal custody of the student. We will have open registration on June 5, from 9 am - 1 pm for the following:
- new families
- kindergarten students who have not registered yet, and
- families who need to update paperwork, ie. expired lease, etc. (Parents will receive a letter from Kathy Azzato regarding an expired lease)
Please do not send paperwork in with your student.
Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
Beginning this week, students will take part in the spring STAR assessment. Our window for spring testing will conclude May 26th. The STAR assessment is a computer-adaptive assessment, adjusting the difficulty of the test based on a child's previous responses.
Students in kindergarten will take the Early Literacy Test. In grades 1-8, students will take the Reading and Math STAR assessments. Results will be shared with parents in the weeks following the conclusion of the testing window.
As always, a good night's rest, a healthy breakfast and arriving on time for school are important to help students do their best.

Attention 8th Grade Parents
Everyone should have received a letter explaining all the details regarding Graduation Night at LHS, June 1, 2017. Please notify Kathy Azzato if you have not received this information.
Tickets are not needed for this event; there is plenty of seating in the main gym at LHS for you and your family. Remember, there will be a reception immediately following the ceremony in the LHS cafeteria, hosted by the 7th grade parents.
Please let Mrs. Azzato know if your student is not attending LHS next year.
Student Council
Final Fridays
Two Fridays left in our Final Fridays countdown! Junior high students, it's time to celebrate the end of another year. Each May, student council counts down the last Fridays of school.

May 26: Celebrate summer in your cheesiest summer attire! Black socks and sandals, anyone?

Election Day
Election Day was Friday. We had seventh grade Student Council members run for an office. Congratulations to all who put in the effort to run a campaign.

PTO Meeting
Our final PTO meeting will be next week, Wednesday, May 24th at 9AM in the teachers lounge. The date was incorrect on our last agenda. All are welcome!
Marla's Brown Bag Lunch
We are proud to introduce our new lunch provider for next year - Marla's Brown Bag Lunch. Lunches will be offered 5 days a week starting on the first day of school and go through to the last full day of school. Similar to this year, you will order and pay for lunches online and be able to make changes to your lunches. Online ordering will open up on August 1st. More information will be sent out at a later day.
Pre Packs
Help the PTO raise money for Oak Grove School by ordering your school supplies through EPI. You can save time and money by letting EPI do the work. Get all of your supplies for next school year put together and sent directly to your home. Online ordering ends June 21st.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Social - RSVP Needed by Wednesday, May 17th
The Kindergarten & 1st grade social is on Friday, May 19th from 12:45-3 pm at the Libertyville Sports Complex. There will be supervised activities such as volleyball, basketball, climbing wall, etc. You will need to sign in a permission slip when you arrive and sign your child in and then you can be on your way! Please note that this is for Kindergarten and 1st grade students only, no siblings please. This is a free event provided by the Oak Grove PTO. Track & Field
Congratulations to all of the track and field athletes who participated in the Sectional Meet at North Chicago on Saturday. Oak Grove had 9 athletes qualify for the IESA Track and Field State Meet in East Peoria this weekend. A special congratulations to the 7th grade boys team who scored 61 points and earned 1st Place Overall at Sectionals!
