Secured Front Door
We now have a secure front door. You will need to ring the doorbell in order to get in. This is how it will work. When you arrive, you will ring the doorbell, and we can see who is at the door via the camera. We will ask why you are visiting Ventana, you will answer and then we will let you in. This is for the safety of all students and staff. Gentle reminder, the office hours are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.
Counseling Lesson
Mrs. Flores was working with two of the first grade classes teaching them a lesson on conflict, conflict resolution and what an enemy is. She read the students the book, Enemy Pie, and they discussed how the students could become friends with others. They were given scenarios and they had to choose if the words were hurtful or if they were helpful. Nice job 1st Graders and Mrs. Flores.
Sra. Santa Cruz
The students in Sra. Santa Cruz’s class were reading and writing about predicting weather based on weather patterns. They also had to write what they can do when it rains. The students did a great job.
Final Mileage Club
Thanks so much to our FFO and all of our parent volunteers that helped to make this year’s Mileage Club a success. Our final Mileage Club run was Thursday and many students attended to run the three laps to get the shamrock token. Also, many of the students reached 100 and 150 milestones. Great job students.
Color Run
Thanks to Ms. Lankes for leading another amazing Color Run. Huge thank you to the FFO for sponsoring the Color Run. Also, a huge thank you to our staff and parents for volunteering to
support the run by throwing color or handing out snacks. What a great Saturday turnout and a fun run.
St. Patrick’s Day
Looks like the Leprechaun visited our first grade classrooms and made a huge mess. Their tracks were on the walls, floors and desks. The Leprechaun made a huge mess in all of the 1st grade classrooms. Thanks to the 1st graders, they kindly cleaned up the messes. They did notice some gold was missing. It was also fun to see so many students dressed in green for St. Patrick’s Day.
What a fun day.
Principal for a half day
One of our students, was principal for a half day on Monday. She won the opportunity by bidding at the silent auction that was held during the dance. She did a great job with the announcements and she also learned a lot about what some of my day looks like. Thanks for being so interested in my job and asking me so many great questions.
Attendance
Our teachers have expressed overall concerns regarding attendance at Ventana Vista. CFSD and the State of Arizona requirement is a 90% attendance rate. This doesn’t discriminate excused from non-excused. This equates to two absences a month or 18 for the school year.
We do not want you to send your students to school when they are sick, but please keep us informed if your student tends to have a number of severe illnesses and they are falling below
the 90% required attendance rate. When students miss an excessive amount of school, they are missing collaborative learning with their classmates and simply doing the work as make-up is not the same as being in class. Thanks to all of you for your attention to this matter.
Message from our Health Office
As spring approaches here in Tucson we are seeing an uptick of allergy complaints to our health office. I posted a link below that may offer some helpful tips for managing allergy symptoms.
Please remember that the health office does not carry any allergy medication (including Benadryl) and if you would like medication to be kept in the health office for your student, you will need to have a signed Medication Administration Consent form on file (must be signed by parent and a medical provider).
Thank you.

We've had a successful year already with dine-outs! Earning $988 from Zinburger put us at $3,937 earned for the year, with two more dine-outs to go, and we'd love to hit a $5000 stretch goal. Thank you to everyone who has helped raise money for Ventana Vista by attending these dine outs!
