Dear Families,
This week was full of surprises. For starters our teachers were treated to a grand surprise of a lounge makeover. With many donations, elbow grease, and late night pizza the H.E.L.P. Group was able to transform the room into something special for our entire staff. One of the greatest things is that the entire transformation cost was $0! Thanks to Gardner-White, Ace Hardware of Ortonville, and the amazing families of HSE. Our teachers and staff felt the love and will continue to for many years to come.
Also, I was greeted with a surprise from WMYD television on Tuesday, as I was honored with an Educator All-Star Award. While they were at HSE filming, your child might be included in the camera view. I'm told it will be shared on Thursday morning at 8:00 am. Stay tuned! http://www.wxyz.com/allstars
We'll begin collecting dimes for Relay for Life. This will be a school-wide event and we'll try to reach a goal of $500 for cancer research. We'll also have a special event on June 14 for our field day as well.
Teacher Requests
This Friday we will begin to receive requests for consideration for next year. Look for the sheet to be available in the office along with an email attachment on Friday. We will collect these sheets until May 26th.
Our third graders really buckled down this week with the first round of MSTEP testing. Next week, they will finish their testing with focus on math.
I've included a testing schedule for you below. Please try to avoid these times for appointments and arriving late and picking up early.
