Our school is such a special place. We are looking forward to another great week of learning. Next week will be a four day week (no school - September 1st).

Attention Yowell Elementary Students and Parents!

We are pleased to announce Yowell Elementary School’s second annual musical! This

year, we will be performing Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids. It is a wonderful story with

amazing costumes and opportunities for our students to shine!

● Students must be in 3rd grade or older to participate.

● Auditions will be held before school August 28th and 30th for the lead roles.

Information about auditions will be sent out to those interested. If a student would like to

be a part of the Jungle Chorus, they can sign up without an audition. Mrs. Korona will

also be starting an art club for 4th and 5th grade students interested in painting the sets

for the production. This art club will also help backstage during the play. Anyone

interested in the art club must see Mrs. Korona for more information.

● Rehearsals will be held from 7:30am - 8:30am on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Students will need to have their own transportation as buses will not be available at that

time. We will also have after-school rehearsals closer to show time.

● The performances will be Friday, February 2nd at 6pm, Saturday, February 3rd at 2pm,

and Saturday, February 3rd at 6pm. Students will be expected to be at all of these

performances. This year, we will be performing at the Eastern View High School

auditorium!

● Parent volunteers will be needed to help with costumes, make-up, and other “behind the

scenes” duties.

● Students will be asked to pay a participation fee of $20. These funds will be used for the

cost of costumes and sets.

Our 5th-Graders can join the band this year! Registration and Instrument Selection Night will be Tuesday, August 29th at 6:00 at Culpeper Middle School. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Roach at rroach@ccpsweb.org. She will be directing our band and will be there to help you select your instrument and get you ready to start your new musical journey. A letter went home in the weekly folder with information. We hope you can join the band

• Registration is open for our fall Girls on the Run season.
• The first session of the 10 week season will be the week of September 4th.
• Practices will be Tuesday/Thursday from 4-5:30 pm.

• There are a limited number of spaces for Girls on the Run at Yowell.
• Once registration closes girls will be selected via a lottery.
• Our very own Mrs. Yost is our new GOTR coach!

In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here.

We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.

We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact him with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
