News and information for Team FUSD
Thank you, Team FUSD
Dear Team FUSD,
As we celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation for each member of our team. Thanks for your tireless dedication, your unwavering commitment, and your endless compassion. It is because of you that our students are able to succeed academically and emotionally.
You are instrumental in shaping the futures for our students. You provide engaging and inclusive learning environments that foster academic growth, critical thinking, and personal development.
You work behind the scenes to keep our schools running smoothly. You keep our buildings clean, our technology functioning, and our students fed and safe. You are the first one to greet our students in the morning when they board the bus, and the last one to say goodbye when you drop them off at home.
So, to all of Team FUSD, I want to say thank you.
Michael Penca
Superintendent

2023 Wellness Leader of the Year and Wellness Warrior of the Year
Congratulations to our 2023 FUSD Wellness Leader of the Year, Kurt Steele, and Wellness Warrior of the Year, Kyle Christian! Kurt and Kyle have both worked extremely hard to promote their health this year, regardless of life's obstacles. If you get a chance, please congratulate Kurt and Kyle on their inspiring wellness journeys!
"The impact on my health has been dramatic. My lab results are some of the best they have ever been and they continue to get better. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner and that it took a life-threatening incident to force the change and focus my attention. I think of all the missed opportunities to enjoy life a little more if I was healthier, slimmer, and in better condition. But we can’t live in the past and can only look forward. Make the decision today." - Kurt Steele
"To me, the important part of triathlon racing is enduring: event after event, hill after hill, to keep pushing until I cross the finish line knowing that eventually all trials come to an end. I just have to stick it out, knowing that it will not last forever; that there is a rest coming up. Maintaining wellness is keeping in mind that there are always new stages to life, and that we are not always going to be stuck in one thing; there will be a change, a new obstacle, a new opportunity, to grow." - Kyle Christian

We Appreciate Your Feedback
It is time once again for FUSD to conduct our annual District-wide engagement survey for staff! Your feedback will help us know if we’re doing enough to listen, support, and inspire our workforce. It will also help us learn how we can improve. Your voice and input are valued, and this survey is a chance to express those opinions.
All employees received the engagement survey via email from the National Business Research Institute (NBRI). Your responses will be completely anonymous so you can feel confident sharing your honest and authentic feedback. The survey contains 18 questions and should take less than 20 minutes to complete. We are striving for 100% participation in order to make sure that each and every employee’s voice is heard.
Please complete the employee engagement survey by Friday, May 19.
