PBIS Lessons:
Please see the following for more information on each lesson being taught
Week of April 22nd - Second Step #17 - Managing Disappointment - Your child will learn about feeling disappointment. Your child will learn how he or she can apply the calm down steps when he or she experiences disappointment.
Young children have strong feelings about what they want and may experience keen disappointment when they don’t get it. It is important that children know what to do when they do not get what they want.
Week of April 29th - Second Step #18 - Handling Being Knocked Down - Your child will learn ways to respond and what to say if he or she is knocked down.
It is important for children to know what they can do when they are hurt and how to respond
Week of May 6th - Second Step #19 - Solving Problems - Your child will be learning how to solve problems and to know when he or she might need to ask for help. This lesson will focus on the following steps to solve a problem:
Say the problem
Think of solutions
Explore consequences
Pick the best solution
Children experience many situations that require them to solve problems. Learning how to solve problems and to remain calm can help children to get along with peers and to persevere when experiencing challenging tasks at home and school.
Sight Words/Snap Words
By the end of Kindergarten, the goal is for students to have list A, or 25 words combined from list A & B, mastered.
Here are some ideas for fun and engaging ways to practice these words at home! The more sight words your child knows by heart, the stronger they will be as a reader & writer.
