Digital Exams
Which AP Exams are Digital this year?
Starting in May 2025, standard paper testing will be discontinued for 28 AP Exams—these exams will move to the Bluebook digital testing application. Of the 28 digital exams in 2025, 16 will be fully digital and 12 will be hybrid digital.
- Students will take digital exams in the Bluebook app. AP coordinators and proctors will administer digital exams using the Test Day Toolkit web application.
- Paper exams in these subjects will only be available to students approved by the College Board to receive a paper exam for digital assessments.
- For math, science, and economics exams that require graphing or symbolic notation, students will view free-response questions and prompts in Bluebook and write their answers in paper exam booklets.
- All schools, including schools and test centers outside of the United States, must administer these 28 AP Exams digitally.
- Late-testing exams in these subjects, are also in digital format.

SSD Accommodations
SSD Accommodations for AP Testing - Do I have them?
Students may only use accommodations they've been approved for by the College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Office. Students can check the status of their SSD accommodations with their school counselor. Digital exams have accommodations automatically built directly into the system.
*Please be advised that students approved for extended time on digital AP Exams are required to use the entire amount of their extended time for each part or section of the exam before moving on to the next.*
This is not the case with paper exams. This is a significant change. Students with 100% extended time will have exams that are 6 1/2+ hours long. Students with 50% extended time will have exams that are 5+ hours long. In the past, with paper exams, students were able to move to different sections and complete the exam before their allowable time was finished; this is still the case for paper exams but is not the case for digital.
If your child has extended time and doesn't use it, please discuss removing this accommodation with your Child's Special Ed. case manager and school counselor.
This also means students may want to pack snacks and drinks for their breaks. Students will also need to provide their own transportation home from evening exams.
