Staff of the Month
Andrew Nance
This is Mr. Nance’s 11th year of teaching math (Algebra 2, Calculus 1, and Calculus 2) and he is a proud member of the SHS Class of 2007. He also sponsors FCA. Mr. Nance and his wife Arielle enjoy spending time with their four year old daughter, Emma. He also enjoys all things sports….you can often find his family at a Golden Bear event on a weekend! He enjoys football, baseball, golfing, and fishing. When asked what he loves about SHS, Mr. Nance stated that he loves the people. The students, staff, and community drive him to want to make SHS a better place for all. Mr. Nance also enjoys pep sessions because it bring us together and allows the students to see staff in a different way.
Fellow staff members, parents, and students stated the following about Mr. Nance:
Mr. Nance always comes into class with a smile on his face. He never misses a chance to tell a joke and make his class smile even on the toughest days. He always has a positive attitude and he truly finds joy in his job as a teacher which is evident through his love for his students and family.
He puts the students interests above his own. He teaches us math for the concept of getting his students better at solving problems which is what the real world is made up of, problem after problem. Other math teachers that I’ve had in my past teach math for the student to learn math while Nance teaches math for the student to learn the technique, problem solving ability and tactics that are learned during the math problem to help us in the real world
