New Year, New Communication Tool

For this school year, I've decided to move away from the daily blog, and give you a weekly update on different findings and happening that I think may be useful to you. I'd also like to share what's going on at Roosevelt in hopes that you may be able to make a connection or spark an idea from the amazing things going on here. Let me know if you have an idea for a topic or would like to read something specific.

Did you know that we've only been in school for 13 days?

13 days! That's it! Does anyone else feel like it's been 13 weeks? We've accomplished so much in the past 13 days. Everyone deserves a HUGE high five or pat on the back.

Chromebooks

We've distributed almost 350 Chromebooks!!! That's a huge amount of new devices in our building. A huge THANK YOU to all of the teachers for the patience in getting this 1:1 initiative started. I'm hoping that many people are establishing routines using them daily in their classroom.


Stacy is now handling the cases and they will be going on on Mondays. Kevin sent a school messenger alerting the parents of this procedure. Also, the Cases and Chromebooks are property of District 64 so please do not allow students to write on cases, chromebooks, etc.

Weekly Meetings Have Started

Are you interested in setting up a weekly time to touch base, learn, work on your evaluation, etc? Let me know a few times that may work for you and I'd love to meet with you on a weekly, biweekly, monthly, whatever basis!

Cool New Tool: Plickers

Plickers is a powerfully simple tool that lets teacher collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices.


Use Plickers for quick checks for understanding to know whether your students are understanding big concepts or mastering key skills.

Did you know that many Chromebook issues can be solved by restarting your Chromebook?

That's right... it may seem odd, however, if your student is prompted for the wireless password or it's taking too long to load, simply power cycle the Chromebook. It's a great idea to start the day with a power cycle (turning them off then on) so that everyone is starting fresh for the day!
