Lincoln Leadership Club

Lincoln's Student Leadership Club is an opportunity for students in 4th & 5th grade to engage in fun, cooperative learning activities at Lincoln Elementary. Our goal is for students to develop leadership skills, exemplify great character, improve decision making skills and encourage responsible citizenship. Using these skills, we hope to give students diverse opportunities to serve others and work collaboratively with classmates.

We believe the skills and knowledge gained through cooperative learning experiences is a WIN-WIN for the student and our school! It is our goal to provide FUN, hands-on, age-appropriate experiences which create a strong foundation for personal, social and academic success. By offering a safe and nurturing environment for kids to take "safe risks," students often feel empowered and excited to step out of their "comfort" zone and continue trying new things.

Children are given the opportunity to sign up for student leadership club at the start of the school year. There will be two different clubs, one specifically for 4th and 5th graders. Any student in 4th and 5th grade is welcome to join and attend club activities.

It is our goal to hold two meetings per month, with Mr. Botten as the club leader. Meetings & activities will take place during the student's lunch and lunch recess. Leadership Club students are asked to attend ONE monthly meeting over their recess period (1/2 hour session). Meetings entail various leadership lessons, team building work, or possibly, a guest speaker who works with students on various topics highlighting leadership skills.

Students who are interested will be asked to complete a registration form and get parental or guardian permission. More information to come...!

Students are given the opportunity to choose what type of activities the club will focus on throughout the school-year. All activities will be in compliance with the school's COVID-19 safety plan. Therefore, some activities may be altered or postponed.

Some possible activities may include:

School-Based Leadership Activities:

Morning greeters, morning announcements with Mrs. Duncan, assisting cafeteria clean-up, Lincoln clean-up crew, assisting playground supervisors, classroom helpers in lower grades, distributing materials for the office staff, hands on tasks (making copies, stuffing staff mailboxes, assembly helpers, recycling efforts, organizing lost & found, attend Parent Council meetings, helping organize the book-mobile.

Community-Based Leadership Activities (TBD):

Food Drive, Coat Drive, Craft Night, Movie Night, Spirit Week, Book Fair

• Leadership is doing the right things...Even when nobody is watching!
• A good leader comes from doing one’s best, no matter what the task.
• Anyone can lead because everyone can serve!
• Leadership is taking responsibility! Responsibility (being a good leader) at Lincoln Elementary can be as simple as making good choices.
