OLHMS Weekly 12/19/23
Tuesday's Top of the Mind Topics:
Did you know this is our final week of school in 2023?
We are sure everyone is looking forward to an incredible up coming Winter Break! We should all be even more excited to return on January 8th!
Did you know that during arrival and dismissal all student drop off takes place in the back of the building on Oak Center Drive?
The back of our building is designated for student drop off and pick up during arrival and dismissal. We need the assistance of our families to use this designated area for student drop off and pick up as our buses are experiencing delays due to additional traffic in the front.
Announcements/ Reminders
Mustang Families,
As we approach the winter break, I wanted to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth and happiness.
The winter break is a special time when we can slow down, reflect on the year gone by, and spend quality time with our family and friends. It's an opportunity to rejuvenate and recharge for the upcoming year.
I want to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Your dedication and active participation make a tremendous difference in their academic journey. Together, we are creating a strong and nurturing learning environment for your child.
During the winter break, encourage your child to take some time for themselves, engage in activities they enjoy, and nurture their curiosity. Whether it's reading a book, exploring nature, or pursuing a creative hobby, this break is a wonderful opportunity for them to discover new interests and passions further preparing and fostering their dreams into reality!
Once again, I want to wish our entire OLHMS community a delightful winter break and a joyous holiday season. May this time be filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Circle Drive and 99th Street: During drop off and dismissal, please do not pass cars in the circle drive without staff support. Also, please do not have your students run across 99th street to be picked up without adult supervision. We want to make sure all of our students and families are kept safe. We have had a couple close calls! Please be patient and courteous!
Lost and Found: Items left in the lost and found for the 1st Trimester will be donated!
Early Dismissals: In the event that a student needs to be picked up early from school, please communicate with the main office as advisory teachers may not see our scholar based on their daily schedule.
Our Community: Please be respectful of our neighbors around our school during arrival and dismissal. It is also important to remind our scholars about staying off community members property while waiting for a bus or walking home.
Working Lunch: We have implemented a plan for scholars to finish work during lunch. Working lunch will be used to support work completion and behavioral reflection. Students assigned to working lunch will be given a bagged lunch if they did not bring one.
Graduation Expectations
Our 8th grade scholars and parents have been given the information in this Parent Letter. These expectations have been discussed with scholars and families throughout the beginning of the year and sent home on a few occasions. As the year progresses additional information will be provided for our graduates! Below is the graduation picture date of January 11th!
