I hope you had a fabulous week! Before we all take off for the weekend I wanted to send out an overview of what to expect next week, some resources to help you, and a fun riddle!

Preparing for next week:

Literature assignments on the Daily Plan

On your Daily Plan once you complete the open Literature unit, it will list your Literature assignment as the 19. You Need To Make A Choice unit. please DO NOT do this unit. We will do our Novel Units later in the year. If you have any questions, please let me know.

*After you complete Unit 5 in Literature please do not move on.

This week we will be working on Geometry. There will only be one OLS lesson. You will also have 2 Go Formative assignments. They each have a video to watch and then questions to answer. Be sure to take your time. This will take the place of your usual OLS Lessons. The link for the GoFormative are listed below under "TGAs" and also in the grade book. Be sure you are attending class connect live or watching the recordings. We will be going over geometry concepts you need to know as a 5th grader. You will see Stride Math listed on your daily plan 2 days this week. Stride is a great practice for 5th math concepts. Remember, all TGAs must be complete by the end of the quarter on December 21st.

Looking Back –

We wrapped up the Unit 5 study of the Fossil Record as we prepare for the semester one Review and Assessment. You will notice that I have allowed two weeks for the Semester One Review and Assessment because the week of Dec. 10-14 is designated for taking your interim exams. I didn’t want to load up too much for that week. We should be in good shape for both the Unit 5 assessment and the Semester One assessment in plenty of time before those interims roll around. Great work!

Looking Ahead -

Since we won’t be able to meet at our usual times next week, I will make a short video to help you study for the semester one assessment that is coming up. I know that some of you will want to review and take the assessment next week so that you will have the following week free to complete the interim tests in USA Test Prep. Whether you take the semester exam next week or wait until the following week is up to you, but I want to make sure that you are familiar with all the topics covered in that two-part quiz. I have included a list of key vocabulary for that semester assessment that should help you prepare.

Special Note: There is an opportunity for extra credit in USA Test Prep. (See TGA's below)

Science of Space for the Week: This week saw the landing of the InSight mission on Mars – the first landing on Mars in six years! Check out this video to see why information about Mars might be a key to understanding the history of the Earth.

Hello 5th graders, this week we are beginning unit 6 The American Revolution. During class on Wednesday, December 5th we will be working through lesson 2 – Decisions.

Please complete these 2 lessons this week:

· Lesson 1 – John and Abigail Adams

· Lesson 2 – Decisions

I’ll see you in class on Wednesday!

Every week you will check the grade level newsletter to see which Music Studio lessons to complete. Just open Unit 1, Lesson 1 in the OLS and click the link to take you to Music Studio! (This is why everything in the OLS for Music EXCEPT for Unit 1, Lesson 1 has been marked skipped.)

Reminder - Mrs. Bass updates the gradebook every Friday at the end of the day. Check the gradebook on Monday morning to see your up-to-date grade!

*** We will not have Class Connect this week because I will be out at high school state testing.
