80-89%
Beginning Advanced Proficiency

For each core class, your scholars' core teachers are grading on the following standards.
Science
In 6th grade science, their grades are reflecting their ability to define criteria and constraints "MS-ETS1-1: Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions." and developing detailed models "MS-ETS1-4: Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved."
Language Arts
In Language Arts, 6th graders have been citing evidence from "A Schoolgirl's Diary" to support their analysis of the text (6.RI.1 Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.). They have been extending this understanding to their own writing (6.RI.5 Analyze how a particular sentence, paragraph, chapter, or section fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the ideas.)(6.RI.2 Determine a central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.), and incorporating our unit vocabulary words into this writing.
Math
Students Math grade is based on the following two standards:
- 6.RP.A.1
- 6.RP.A.2
Social Studies
Students' grade in Social Studies is based on a short geography unit covering map basics and the Five Themes of Geography. The unit standard is:- 6.13 Construct and analyze maps, graphs, charts, models, and databases to make inferences and predictions regarding geographic distributions (e.g., perceptual impacts for creating boundaries, borders, cultural regions of indigenous peoples).
Week Three Star Students
Every week the 6th grade teachers will meet and pick 2 students whom they believe demonstrated Harrison Park Middle School values exceedingly well.
This week we've chosen Jonar N. and Sapphire L. Well done!
