Principal, Jeffrey W Ellsworth
Dear Jefferson Families and Friends,
We are on the downhill slide to end the first semester. It has gone so fast! Students have 13 days of school left until break. They will be dismissed on Tuesday, January 21 for the Holiday season. Second Quarter will end on that day and teachers will have the 22nd to complete report cards and finish things up from the semester. School will resume again on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. The 2nd round of MAPS testing will take place the following week (January 10-January 21).
Next Tuesday, students in Grades 3-5 will be taking the State NSCAS test in Reading. It is a pilot test for NDE. Please help your students to be prepared for that test by making sure they are well rested. It is a taxing test with some long passages for them to read and answer questions. Hopefully, it will go very smoothly.
So far it has been a very mild November/December. I know the snow will fly sooner than later. Please make sure your students are dressed for the weather. Walking Club will be outside unless the wind-chill factor is below 15°, at that point we will bring all students into the building for indoor Walking Club. In the mornings it has ranged from 15-45 the past couple of weeks. Check the weather and make sure they have appropriate shoes, coats, gloves/mittens, stocking caps, etc.
Please remind your students of the importance of good hygiene. It is important to be clean for school and to wash hands often to help avoid the spreading of germs. It is Cold and Flu season, and it is always COVID season. Any help you can provide will go a long way.
If there are ever any concerns or issues you would like to visit with me about, please do not hesitate to call me at school: (308) 535-7136; or email me: jellsworth@nppsd.org. I would be happy to visit with you and help to resolve any problems. Thank you for your continued support. Have a Happy Holiday!

News from Nurse Sara
As the Weather gets a little colder, please remember to send coats, hats, gloves and boots with your student. We will go outside if the temperatures are above 15°. If you can also have a change of clothes in your student's backpack for those unexpected times when they may need to change.
Don't Forget!
Please send a water bottle with your student everyday. Our water fountains are not turned on however we do have water bottle filling stations.
Thank you!
