The Gator Gazette
January 29 - February 2
Hello Gators!
As January comes to a close and we usher in February, we begin our celebration of Black History Month. The celebration of Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, an African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. In the 1970s, President Gerald Ford introduced the month of February as Black History month and is celebrated every year at this time. From the inception of this yearly celebration, a theme has been adopted - this year's theme is African Americans and the Arts - "Fun Facts" and pieces of art will be shared throughout the next month in the Gator Gazette, on the morning announcements, and TV Monitors throughout GMS.
Students and Staff have been invited to VOTE to name the GMS Student Section. If you would like to vote please click the following link to VOTE TODAY!
