Guidelines for FCPS Issued Chromebooks
- The student who is assigned the device is responsible for the device, case, and charger.
- All FCPS issued Chromebooks are to remain in their cases at all times to help protect them.
- Students are not to share Chromebooks or chargers with one another.
- FCPS issued Chromebooks are intended for use on school based assignments. Personal use for video and music streaming are prohibited.
Helpful Tech Tip #1 - Hard Reset
Simply hold down the refresh key and tapping the power key. Give it about 30 seconds and release the refresh key once the screen comes on.

Helpful Tech Tip #2 - Clearing the Cache
Many staff and students have been reporting the "Bad Request" error and "HTTP Error 400."
To remedy this situation students should clear their cache, sign out of their chromebook, remove the user profile and log back in.
How to Clear Cache / Cookies / History on Chromebooks
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen, hover over “More Tools” and then select “Clear browsing data”
- Check the boxes next to Browsing History, Cookies, and Cached Images and Files. Select "All Time"
- Click Clear Data.
- Sign out of the chromebook
- Remove the user profile (click on the down arrow next to your name)
- Log Back in
- Use the FCPS bookmarks to navigate to Schoology

Helpful Tech Tip #3 - Chrome Reset
If clearing the cache does not work, this handy little trick often corrects additional issues with Google Chrome including the "Bad Request" error and "HTTP Error 400 The size of the request headers is too long."
- Close all tabs of Chrome, then re-open Chrome with one "New Tab"
- In the Chrome address bar, enter and go to: chrome://settings/reset
- In the middle of the screen, click Restore settings to their original defaults
- Click Reset settings

If a BCMS student is in need of Chromebook or Schoology support please complete the form linked below. The request will be reviewed by the User Support Specialist (USS) and Media Specialist. The student will be called to the Media Center during school hours to receive assistance with their issue.
