WEEKLY NEWS FOR JANUARY 21, 2021
Message from the principal
We are glad to be back in our normal hybrid schedule this coming week. It has been way too long, and we are hopeful that things will continue to improve with Covid-19 in DuPage County. Nothing will change for our eLearners and they will continue to follow the same schedule.
For students coming to Albright for in-person learning, the self certification screener must be filled out at least 30 minutes prior to your child(ren)'s arrival time. This is 7:15am for our AM students and 11:30am for our PM students. If you do not complete this screener, we will have to ask your child(ren) to wait outside until we get everyone else in the building. At this time, we will either call you to answer the questions for us or ask your child to answer the questions themselves.
We understand these procedures are inconvenient, but we are doing everything we can to get students back in school and keep them here. These procedures are the best way to continue to keep students safe. You should receive a text message each morning from us with the screener linked. If your student(s) attends in-person learning and you are not receiving these daily text messages, please call us so we can fix the issue.
With the weather becoming much more chilly, we also want to make sure you have the correct arrival times for our sessions. We start letting students into the building at 7:35am for the AM session and 11:50am for the PM session. We shut the doors at 7:43am for the AM session and 11:58am for the PM session. If your child(ren) arrives after this time, he/she will need to go to our main entrance (Door 1) and ring the bell.
Our AM session ends at 10:15am and our PM session ends at 2:30pm. If you are picking up and/or dropping off your child(ren) please use the parking lot on the south side of the field on Harrison Ave. This prevents students walking between buses and you getting stuck in the bus lane.
We appreciate your support as we reopen our doors to all of our hybrid students.
Sincerely,
Gerrie AulisaA REMINDER FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
As required by the DuPage County Health Department and Illinois Department of Public Health, students are required to stay home from school if they are experiencing ONE or more of the following symptoms: Fever of 100.4 or higher, headache, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nasal congestion, nausea, fatigue, muscle or body aches, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell.
Students with symptoms must stay home for 10 days. A doctor's note or a negative COVID-19 PCR test result is required in order for a student to return to school before the 10 day isolation period.
Siblings of students with symptoms must stay home for a minimum of 10 days or until the student with symptoms gets a doctor’s note or negative COVID-19 PCR test result.
Please remember to certify that your child is free of symptoms of COVID-19 prior to boarding the bus or arriving at school. This form must be completed daily and can be accessed at: https://tinyurl.com/D48HealthCert.
Students attending school in-person must bring and wear a clean face covering every day. Masks must cover the nose and chin. Athletic face coverings (“gaiters”) or masks with valves are not recommended for source control by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and are not suitable face coverings at school.

AmazonSmile
Do you shop at Amazon a lot? Did you know they offer a small percentage of eligible orders to be donated to a charity of your choice? FTC is a charity that can receive donations if account holders set it up to do so! All you have to do is shop as you normally would. If any of the items are eligible for AmazonSmile donations, FTC will receive the money that is paid out a few times per year. Even better? All of the money in turn supports our schools and children. It's a win win!
To get started from the app, go to the main menu and tap on the 'settings' icon (≡). Go to the Programs & Features heading and tap \/ See all. Scroll down and tap on AmazonSmile. There you will be able to search for Salt Creek School District 48 Families Teachers Children in Villa Park, IL. If you are using the website, do your shopping at smile.amazon.com. You will be prompted to add a charity. It's that easy! It may seem that .5% of your purchase is not a lot, but you would be surprised to see how quickly it adds up when we all work together to support our great district. Thanks for helping!!
