Week of March 27
Week of March 27
Upon returning from Spring Break, each grade level will participate in two different assemblies. We will have a grade level "town hall" to review expectations. We will also have our quarterly Achievement/Growth assembly. Here are the dates/times to mark on your calendar:
Town Hall - Tuesday, April 11th in APR
- Grade 4 @ 2-2:30pm
Town Hall - Thursday, April 13th in APR
- Grade 2 @ 9:25-9:55am
- Grade 1 @ 10:10-10:40am
- Grade K @ 10:45-11:15am
- Grade 5 @ 2:00-2:30pm
- Grade 3 @ 2:45-3:15pm
Town Halls are purposely during focus group times so all teachers and paras that work with the students are able to join the town hall and hear the expectations along with the students. Only grades 4/5 are held at times other than focus group time, but all teachers/paras that work with each grade level should make an effort to attend.
Achievement/Growth Celebration
Friday, April 14th in APR
- Grades K-3 @ 2:00-2:30pm
- Grades 4-5 @ 2:40-3:10pm
A reminder: Math required assessment data is due April 12. This is the day after we return from Spring Break, so please try to have students complete any missing assessments this week.

Summer School
Allocations for Summer School
To determine the projected enrollment for this summer, last year’s student enrollment numbers were taken and divided in half to match this year’s reduced budget allocation. As a reminder, the summer school team will create and post job requisitions in ATS for the schools this year. Staff will be able to apply to positions starting March 27.
Your program will be able to hire:
3 planning teacher leaders (one for each school)- MHES Staff Can Apply and will be selected
1 program teacher leader(s)- Maryvale ES Staff Member will be Selected
1 summer secretary- Maryvale ES Staff Member will have priority, but MHES can apply
7 classroom teachers- (Maryvale Teachers will have Priority, but MHES can apply)
3 paraeducator(s)- (At least 1 MHES Para will be hired)
3 electives teacher(s)- MHES Staff Can apply
0 security (middle school only)
Once enrollment begins, and you are watching the numbers and needs of the students enrolling, you may request ELD and special education support. Based on the interest of Maryvale Staff, those who applied will be contacted to be considered for summer school positions. I know this is not ideal, but as we do not have our own building, we, as Principal's agreed to move forward in this way.
With limited classes, we can only recommend a limited number of students per school/ per grade level. Each grade level (K-5) Can recommend 11 students per grade level. Students will have to recommend based on Priority. I am asking that team leaders use some time this week and no later than next Wednesday (March 29th) to identify the 11 students K-5 who will be invited to attend summer school. Team leaders will get a link and be asked to place the names of those students in the link and email Ilana and me to let us know that the recommendations have been completed. Please see the criteria established by all 3 Principals to help guide your recommendation. I know it is not the best criteria, but we will use this as agreed upon by all three Principals. The Criteria are as follows:
CRITERIA
o 11 total (per school/per grade) ; TLs, Please prioritize top to bottom in spreadsheet
o Maintain a separate list of 10-15 kids in the event families decide they do not want their child to attend
