News from the Nest!
October 2023
Skyhawk Families,
We are nearing the end of the 1st nine weeks, and we appreciate you all for your patience and support as we worked out kinks and changes throughout the beginning of this year. Thank you to our parents who have worked with us to make our carline move faster and for those of you who have offered to volunteer your services to help make our school better.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place at the end of this month. Teachers have been instructed to reach out to parents of our students that are not meeting expectations first. Once we have reached out to the families that we need to see, we will open sign-ups for any parent that would like a conference. The expectation is that all conferences will be in-person but if you would like a more convenient method (phone, video) just let your team know and we can accommodate. Be on the lookout for more information from your student's Team Leaders.
Also, we still need help to reach 100% of families who have completed the meal application. This process takes less than 10 minutes. www.myschoolapps.com.
The meal applications are tied to district funding (not just determining free/reduced lunch for students). Please help us to reach our goal for PVMS!
Here are a few reminders:
- Schoology: Is your source for all things academic. Please contact your child's SOAR teacher if you have not received your code.
- LRSD App/ROOMS: Your "one stop shop" for events, documents, and communication! If you have not joined ROOMS you should do so! *Note: you must use the email address used when registering to access* Please contact your child's SOAR teacher if you have not received a code.
Our Vision
At PVMS, we strive to provide all students with a relevant and rigorous education that promotes high achievement, celebrates diversity, and prepares all students to engage meaningfully with their community.
Our Mission
To ensure that all students learn at grade level or higher while fostering individual interests.
Name Badges
All students are required to wear an ID badge throughout the school day. The student's name and photo should be visible, and the ID should be worn around the neck and outside of their clothing. Students are required to wear a grade-appropriate lanyard with their ID.
ID badges are a part of the student dress code and ID badge policy.
All students have received their badges.
Students who are in violation of wearing an ID badge will be allowed to call the parent/guardian to have the badge brought to school. If a parent cannot be reached, students will need to get a temporary badge.
Students who have lost his/her badge or cannot retrieve the badge must purchase a replacement.
Consequences For Not Displaying/Possessing School ID
· 1st Violation- Warning and documentation by staff
· 2nd Violation- Parent Notification/Compliance letter to parent
· 3rd Violation- Subject to LRSD Policy (Rule 33) Repeated violation of
Cat. 2 Offense Page 54 of the LRSD student handbook.
If a replacement ID is needed, students will need to pay $5.00 or 150 PBIS points. Replacement lanyards or badge holders are $2.00 or 50 PBIS points. To replace the whole badge, badge holder, and lanyard is $9.00 or 250 PBIS points.

"The Scoop" from your 6th Grade Skyhawk Academy Director:
Dear 6th Grade Skyhawk Families,
The end of the first quarter will be here before we know it! I’m so proud of our students and all the hard work they’re pouring in to their learning. Remember: we are a team! Teachers, administrators, and staff members are all here to support students, so they can reach their full potential.
It is important that you use this first year of middle school to teach your students to keep track of their assignments and even more importantly, to hold themselves accountable for their work. This looks like supporting your student in communicating directly with their teachers about missing work or things they don’t understand. Building this independence is one of the best things you can do to set them up for success!!
As always, please reach out if I can help you help your child!!
