Message from Ms. Daly
Dear Families,
As we head into the final eight weeks of the 22-23 school year, there are some specific things we can do to with and for our children to make the best of our limited time together. First, put down your screen and put away all the screens of the family. Second, engage in eye contact, conversation, and uninterrupted time spent talking, playing, cooking, or other activity together can be the best brain work your child experiences with you. Finally, don't take for granted the power of a hug and an "I love you, no matter what" can have over the hearts of kids. There are no clear directions about how to raise confident, resilient, and courageous children. But there are some easy ways we can feed the hearts and minds of the children we love most.
Take a look at what neuroscientist, Lisa Feldman Barrett, recommends parents and grown ups to do in order to raise kids with flexible, resilient brains. Focus on opportunities to talk to and with kids - A LOT. Explain things to kids more than you probably are. For both positive and negative feedback - focus on the action rather than the person. Introduce your kids to many different people (safely, of course) while helping them model after you as well as growing in their own independence.
Karen Daly, Principal

Parent Feedback for 23-24 Class Placement
This is the time of year that our staff begins the process of student/teacher assignments for the 2022-23 school year. Your child’s classroom teacher, the grade-level teaching team, all of our specialists, and the administrative team each play a role in the process. We work to place each of the children into the very best setting that we can. We consider learning styles, student personalities, class size, student academic strengths and needs; and, we strive for a heterogeneous class makeup (full range of abilities).
While requests for specific teachers are not accepted, you are welcome to submit a letter to me no later than Monday, April 17, 2023 describing your child’s characteristics as a learner and their needs in school. Email Karen Daly directly at kdaly@rtsd26.org.
Please keep in mind that we will accept and consider the following information from parents:
If an older child in your immediate family had a teacher and you’d like to request that a younger sibling not have the same teacher, please share this information.
If you know that your child must be separated from a specific child to optimize your child’s learning experience, please share this information.
If there is information about your child’s learning style that you feel is pertinent, please share this information.
Please remember: Parental requests for specific teachers or classrooms are NOT accepted/considered.

Local Road Construction Update
Euclid and Wolf Road Intersection Improvements
- Worked Scheduled to Begin Spring 2023

- Work will include removing and replacing the concrete pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk ramps, pavement markings, and traffic signal detector loops.
- Motorists can expect delays during construction. The project will be completed in multiple stages that include various lane closures along both roadways. During one stage, the intersection will be closed with traffic required to follow a posted detour.
