Principal's Message
BELONG ~ BELIEVE ~ ACHIEVE
Hello Wildcat Students, Staff, and Families!
Wildcat Families please make sure you log into Aeries to check the final grades for 1st semester.
Final grades have been posted on Aeries and Report Cards will be given to the students to bring home this week. If you need assistance please contact Mrs. Pipe or Mrs. Vera in our front office.
Nothing Bunt Cake PTO Fundraiser will start this week! Your Wildcat will be bringing home more information and an order sheet. These will be in just in time for Valentine's Day!
Our Wildcats have received their new planner for this semester! Please make sure to check the planners for assignments written in for each period everyday. Thank you for our help in keeping our Wildcats organized!
With many of our regular events coming up I wanted to make sure all of our families know a little about all the amazing ways we celebrate our Wildcats and their families!
Lunch on the Lawn: Wildcat Families are invited to bring lunch and eat lunch with their student during his or her lunch time. We invite you to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for a picnic style lunch on our front lawn. Please let your Wildcat know to meet you in the front and we will check you in with your ID at the Welcome Booth! It is always a great day when I get to hang out with our Wildcats and Parents! See you on FRIDAY 1/26. Lunch on the Lawn is scheduled once a month. Check the dates below.
Pep Rally: ASB students organize and lead our pep rallies during the school day to celebrate our seasonal sports teams! This event is all student-led and organized. Our ASB students play music, organize games, and set up the MPR for our coaches and teams to be introduced. This event happens at the beginning of each sports season. Next week we will be introducing basketball and soccer teams.
Semester Awards: These awards are for GPA at the end of the first semester.
ROAR Awards: 4 students per grade level are picked by the teachers at each grade level. The students that are picked are chosen because they represent Sullivan's Character Traits of
R - Responsible
O - Organized
A- Can Do ATTITUDE!
R- Resilient
Parents are invited in the morning to help recognize and honor their Wildcat for this accomplishment. We have a light breakfast with juice, coffee, and water offered for our Wildcats and Families during this time in the morning.
The students receive:
1. Front of the lunch line pass
2. Get out of school 3 min early pass
3. Parents get a placard so you can drive up to the top, past the gates to pick up your Wildcat right at the front, ROCKSTAR STATUS!
This event happens once a month and the passes are good every day for that entire month!
Winter sports will be Boys' Basketball and Girls' Soccer.
Thank you to all of our Wildcats for trying out! Great job!
Grateful,
Angie James, Principal ~ Click to email.

23-24 SMS Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact.
I have attached our completed Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. These documents are commitments from the school and parents in how we support our students at Sullivan Middle School. These documents also outline parent and school engagement in support of student achievement and how the school is providing parent support and opportunities to be involved. As we know the more support a student receives the higher success our students will achieve.
Thank you Wildcat Families for your help in creating our school Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. We were able to meet with our School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, PTO, and other parents who were interested during Coffee with the Principal to gather input and create these documents with guidance from our school community. We will review these documents at the beginning of each school year and gather input to ensure we are working together to continue to support our Wildcats.
Thank you again for your continued support and feedback! I appreciate YOU!

Exciting news!: Students attending school on campus can eat for free during the 23-24 school year!

Important information from the California Department of Education.
BUSD Families,
The California Department of Education passed legislation this past July that all school districts must remind parents and legal guardians of all students in the Bonsall Unified School District of their responsibilities for keeping firearms out of the hands of children as required by California law. Please take a moment to review the memo below.
California Law Regarding Safe Storage of Firearms Memorandum 2023-2024

SECURED CAMPUS AND ENTRANCE INFORMATION
ATTENTION PARENTS!
We are excited to announce that we extended our safety and security for all staff and students by installing a fence around the front of our school! Visitors will be required to bring ID and check in at the Welcome Booth before anyone is permitted on campus.
Only emergency vehicles, buses, those with handicap placards, and those with other special placards have access to the upper lot, emergency lane closest to the front of our schools. You will need to show your placard to Campus Security.
This decision to enforce our existing parking lot plan aligns with the recommendations of our community safety partners and will increase our ability to maintain a safe and secure site:
- When dropping students off, please use the lower levels of the parking lot.
- When visiting either the middle or the high school office, please park in the lower levels, bring your ID to the Welcome booth, and check in with the appropriate staff.
We appreciate your partnership and support in our efforts to provide the highest levels of safety for our students
