School of Saint Mary FYI
December 3, 2021
Notes from Mrs. Maricle
1. Jesse Tree: I am reading a bible story each day during daily prayer that corresponds with an ornament that we are adding to our school Jesse Tree. I do not read the stories that fall on the weekend so I have attached the list of stories if you want to read them at home.
2. Class Christmas Parties: With COVID holding it's ground, we have decided to remain cautious and limit parents at class parties. If a teacher requests assistance at the party, I am allowing up to two parents. Please check with your teacher on their wishes.
COVID-19 Updates
*Week of December 3, 2021-
3 NEW student positives and 1 NEW staff positive (all in mandatory quarantine)
Statistical Update: Since November 13th, the school has been notified about 8 positive cases of COVID. 7 of those cases are students and 1 is staff. 50% of the positive cases can be attributed to family transfer and/or activities outside of the school. The 50% left is connected to the initial positive case in 5th grade in early November. Based on data, we are doing the best we can with a highly contagious virus. Thankful for God's hands of protection!
*Note: These statistics are for PS-8th Grade.
Policy Change: An amendment has been made to the School of Saint Mary COVID Quarantine Policy that aligns with the Diocese of Tulsa amended policy of no longer mandating quarantines for close contact cases. The SOSM and Diocese of Tulsa policy documents are attached below.
COVID Testing: The Task Force has given approval for families to use either a PCR Test or a Molecular ID Test to return from quarantine. Saint Francis offers a free drive thru clinic that yields results in 24 hours.
Grace and Understanding: This is a gentle reminder that we need to be following in our Heavenly Father's footsteps in giving people grace and understanding during these difficult times with COVID. We field so many calls a day asking for guidance to ensure everyone is doing the right thing. Yes, COVID is real and scary, however, we also have students and staff suffering from seasonal allergies, head colds, pink eye, stomach bugs and various other ailments that could present as COVID. So much is unknown so we need to unite as a community to lift each other up each day and trust that each of us is doing their best for our school.
Note: We want families to be our partners in navigating school during a pandemic. If you have COVID comfort concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are doing our very best to make accommodations as we can.
The School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Plan for 2021-22 is posted below. We want to remind everyone that we review data often and we are committed to our plan being an evolving document based on trends in our area.
