Mustang Minute
Friday, April 21st
From the Principals' Offices
It's been another awesome week at Brookwood! This past week was Severe Weather Week, and students in both buildings learned all about how to react in the case of severe weather, and they participated in school or class-wide drills this afternoon. We are happy to report that the students in both buildings handled themselves with the utmost maturity, quickly and safely moving to their designated areas, and staying quiet to hear teacher instructions.
Wisconsin Forward State testing is winding down for grades 3-8. We have reserved next week for make up testing, so if your student has been absent recently, and has missed a required test, please know that he or she will be testing next week.
Lastly, we are eagerly anticipating some exciting upcoming events! We look forward to seeing those of you who have signed up for our Mother/Son Glow Party this Saturday at BMS, from 1-3pm. As a reminder, this is not a drop off event. Also, Annie Jr. is ready to go! We hope you will make it to one of our shows next weekend, on April 27th or April 28th at 7pm at BMS. The kids have put an enormous amount of time into memorizing lines, designing sets, singing, dancing, and acting! This is sure to be an amazing show...don't miss it!
Have a wonderful weekend, Mustangs!

Academic Lab at BMS: Last Day May 11th!!!
Students will begin their study time with one of their teachers, right after school in that teacher’s classroom.
At 3:20pm, students will then report to the Academic Lab in the library. A team of Academic Lab teachers will continue to help students in working on the tasks of focus, as assigned by their teacher.
Academic Lab teachers will also assist students with putting any unfinished assignments needing to be completed into their assignment notebooks, so that families are in the loop of tasks that still need attention at home.
Academic Lab will end at 4:25pm. Students will not be allowed to leave early unless a parent needs to pick them up sooner.
The Late Bus will continue to be offered as afternoon transportation home from the Academic Lab, and will depart promptly at 4:30pm. (Note: The Late Bus will also still be available on Tuesdays for students in athletics).
Families: We need your help in giving our students the attention they need and deserve. We hope that you will take full advantage of this resource when your student is in need of additional support.

FROM THE CLASSROOM...
What's Happening In Ms. Oteman's Class?
In Ms. Oteman's classroom, students are working on a growing project of mixed wildflowers to give as a gift to someone on Mother's Day. On March 1st, students started the project by filling their pots with 1000 ml of Miracle Gro Moisture Control soil. Students placed about 20 tiny Mixed Flowers seeds just under the soil surface. Students were then instructed to get 60 ml of water to water their seeds. Each pot was placed in the window to watch it grow. Students will be tracking each plant's growth by taking pictures each week. These will be labeled and laminated to make a grow journal showing the progress from week to week. After this, pictures will be taken every other week until the plants are taken home.
Students are having so much fun with this project! We were able to chat about experiences students may have had planting outside of school. Watching the progression of something they created is amazing and gives them a sense of accomplishment. Way to go, Mustangs!
What's Happening In Ms. Bullock's Music Classes at BES?
The students have enjoyed working on keyboards. Having the experience of connecting the concepts of reading and playing the music has really engaged some of the students in a new way. As a teacher, it has been rewarding to see some of the students who might not see themselves as musical take a strong interest in playing on an instrument. The looks of accomplishments on their faces and their desire to learn more is evident. There are so many ways to be musical. Keep up the beautiful music, Mustangs!
Athletics
From the Athletic Director...
Congratulations to all of the students who made the track team! We can’t wait to watch you make us Mustang proud! Come out to support the track team on May 3rd.
If you are still holding onto an athletics uniform from a previous sport, please get those turned in ASAP.
Go Mustangs!

Boxtops
We need your help to get more families to support the Box Tops program. The more people that participate, the more our school can earn to help get the supplies it needs!
PLUS, you can earn a bonus for our school by inviting your friends, family, and other parents to sign up and participate in Box Tops.
To refer friends to sign up, go to the Invite Friends section of the Box Tops app. (You can get there by tapping on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app home screen.) You'll get a referral code that you can send to a friend. You'll BOTH earn Bonus Box Tops for our school when they scan their first receipt — that's extra cash that counts towards our Box Tops earnings goal of $1,000 this year.
Thanks for your help!
