Library Letter
August 31st, 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Your student has begun visiting the library each week. Encourage your student to read by reading with them. Talk about books that you are reading with your student.
Please help your student find a special place to keep the books so they stay safe from pets, food, beverages, siblings and can also be easily found to be returned. Please return books on time so your student can get a new book and other students are able to enjoy the book also. Please remember you, along with your student, are responsible for the condition and care of any books that are checked out by your child. Damaged or lost books must be equally replaced.
Here is some information on our book policies:
UTK students are allowed to check out one book at a time for one week.
K-1 students get to check out one book at a time (two books if one is a foreign language book) for one week
Grade 2-5 students are allowed to check out two books at a time (three books if one book is a foreign language book) for up to two weeks, books can be renewed for longer if no one is waiting for it. The book must be present to be renewed.
If books are not returned, then additional books cannot be checked out.
Once books are 2 weeks overdue, a paper notice will be sent home with the student
Once books are 4 weeks overdue, a paper notice will be sent home with the student asking for an exact replacement of the book. A replacement book can be a new or good condition used book of the same title and same style (hardcover/softcover) of the book.
Once the books are returned or replaced, the student will be allowed to resume book check out.
