Hornet Families,

Winter is almost here! The calendar says December 21st is the first day of winter however, the weather shows differently. We must love Michigan because with it comes the cold and snow; I choose to embrace this cold season, it is so beautiful and I love wearing comfy sweaters. When December hits I start thinking about 2nd Semester, we are nearing the midway point for the school year. As a midway check-in I am attaching a survey for families to complete. This survey will help the staff reflect, review and adjust. We do not believe in complacency and we need your help to measure how we are doing at the HIVE. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

SEMESTER 1 is coming to an end. Your child has 4 1/2 weeks left in this first semester. Encourage them to focus, complete their work, turn in their work and do their best. All students have the opportunity to improve their grades.

December for HCS is a short month. Winter break begins December 20th; before break we will start NWEA testing on December 5th and it will continue through December 14th. Please talk to your child about the importance of doing their best to focus and take the NWEA test seriously. This test helps your child and our school monitor academic growth.

Student Leadership:

The students have taken it upon themselves to lead various activities. We are encouraging each students to focus on their strengths and lead with integrity.

Campus Events:

Your child is fully included in events at the high school and middle school. If your child is passing their classes they are eligible to play sports, go to dances and various other school events.

Students have a chance to WIN because of good character! A student's name will be drawn Bi-Weekly for a small incentive and Once a Month for a larger incentive from our HIVE SUCCESS Box. Teachers will catch students making good choices and following school expectations. When this happens the student will receive a ticket. That student will write their name on the back of the ticket and put their ticket in the "HIVE SUCCESS" Box for an opportunity to WIN!
