We survived the heat waves that came our way and splashed our way through the beaches and pools to stay cool. We discovered baby crabs in the waves and sand at Salisbury Beach. We served up free iced cold lemonade for members of our community. But the fun didn't stop there! We had delicious BBQ food at Leominster State Park, ate Popcorn, watched Buzz Lightyear, played at the Boston Children's Museum, created unique pottery pieces at Ceramica, and made the biggest bubbles ever at the EcoTarium.

Thank you Somerville Council on Aging and our friends at Ralph and Jenny Center for July 11th Intergenerational Game Day. Some of our Mystic kids had a blast partaking in community-based programming, playing different games with the broader community. The whole time our team could not stop smiling & laughing as we made some new friends in Somerville.

Thank you, our friends at Farrington Nature Linc, for having us and introducing us to all things nature. We hiked and explored the woods, built the tallest forts, held bunnies, played with the chickens, and walked and fed the cutest goats. Oh, we can't forget the competitive game of water dodgeball that was a crowd pleaser. It was a hot day but worth the sweat.

• Monday, September 5th: Labor day; all schools; MLC/MELC Closed

• Wednesday, August 31st: Students can arrive at 12:00 p.m.
• Thursday, September 1st: Students can arrive at 12:00 p.m.
• Friday, September 2nd: Full day, students can arrive at 7:30 a.m.

Thank you for understanding that the MLC & MELC will be closed. We appreciate your consideration during our planned closing on the following days:

Our Parent Meeting will be on Monday, August 8th from 6:00-7:30 pm. in the community room.

• Meetings are on the second Monday of the month unless stated otherwise.
• Parents are responsible for picking up their children at 5:30 pm, eating family dinner together in the community room, and signing them back in for childcare during the meeting.

Personnel Improvement & Policy (PIP) Committee Monthly meeting will be on Monday, August 22nd from 6:00- 7:30 pm at the Mystic Learning Center.

• PIP meetings are on the third Monday of every other month.

Are you 18 years of age, and have at least a high school diploma? Do you have previous experience working with children? Do you have good communication skills and work well with others? Do you enjoy weekly trips to the beach and the pool (summer only)? Then this is the job for you!

These positions are 40hrs a week when school is closed (13 weeks)- Summer and School Vacations, and 30hrs a week when school is open (39 weeks)- School year.

** $250 sign on bonus after the first week of employment; $250 after the first two months.** Start Date: Immediately

The Human Service Division of the City of Somerville Department of Health and Human Services is now available to take online referrals for services through a new online contact form. Referrals may be completed by individuals directly seeking services, parents or guardians, service providers, or community partners.

The services provided are available at no cost to Somerville residents of all ages and include:

• Supportive counseling for individuals and families
• Briefcase management
• Service coordination for individuals and families
• Information and Referral to services
• Including mental health services, utility and benefits assistance, workforce development, housing support, youth services, financial literacy, legal assistance, survivor services, literacy, and language development, public health services, substance misuse services for youth.
