A Message from Meridian School District
Dear families,
Sexual health education lessons will be delivered to seventh and eighth grade students in May. Eighth grade lessons will take place May 20 through May 27. Seventh grade lessons will take place May 31 through June 3.
Parents and guardians may review the Positive Prevention Plus curriculum and may remove their children from these lessons with a written request. (RCW 28A.300.475). Copies of the waiver form are available at school offices and on our website.
Parents/guardians may review the materials in-person from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 or from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4 in the Professional Development Room at Meridian School District, 194 W. Laurel Road.
Families unable to attend the evening hours may also arrange to view materials at the District Office between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please contact Shelby Raga, (sraga@meridian.wednet.edu) secretary in the Department of Teaching and Learning to arrange.

Field Trips Are Back!
We have experiential learning opportunities for 6th, 7th and 8th graders coming up!
6th grade - May 16 -18 at Camp Orkila on Orcas Island for Outdoor Ed. Student will be staying on the island.
7th grade - May 24-26 visiting visiting Bellingham Parks. These will be day trips only. Permission slips will be sent home with students.
8th grade - May 9th to Camp Killoqua in Stanwood. This is will be a day trip and students will return in the evening. Permission slips with more information will be sent home next week. Students will leave MMS around 9am and return around 7:45pm.
Students not attending are expected to be at school and engage in on campus learning.
Reminder!!
Make ups for SBA testing will be May 4th and 5th.
iReady testing will take place May 11th and 12th.
Teacher in-service Friday, May 13. This is a non-student day.
No school Memorial Day, May 30th
College Bound Scholarships
The College Bound Scholarship is an early commitment of state financial aid to eligible students who enroll in middle school and meet the pledge requirements. The College Bound Scholarship covers average tuition at public college rates, some fees, and a small book allowance at over 65 colleges, universities, and technical schools in Washington.

Girls Soccer - 8th grade 4:00pm and 7th grade follows
May 2nd Home vs Lynden (8th and 7th)
May 4th @ Horizon (8th only, they do not have a 7th grade team)
Baseball - 8th grade 3:30pm and 7th grade 5:00pm
Monday May 2nd - @ Nooksack
Wednesday May 4th - Home vs. Nooksack
Track - Home meet on Tuesday at MHS at 4pm. Parents pick up from HS after the final event of the evening, no bus to MMS and no signature required.
This will be the final meet for many athletes and the only way to qualify for the Championship meet next week.
