Note from the Principal
While today is still a snow day, I wanted to make sure you received this week's Monday Morning Memo as it is full of important information. This week is Catholic School's Week and we have several events planned. We will keep you updated on the rescheduling of Monday's and Tuesday's events as soon as we are back in school.
Attached is the summary report for the mid-year feedback and climate surveys. I truly appreciate everyone that took the time to respond to these surveys and I am excited to implement some of the requested changes to make your child's learning experience even better. While we cannot be together physically, we remain dedicated to providing a supportive educational environment and excellent academics. If there is anything that we can help with, please let us know.
Have a wonderful week,
Mrs. Lewis

Student Spotlight- Janel Spriggs
Today's spotlight is Janel Spriggs (4th Grade). Janel wrote an essay for her religion class that was featured in The Dispatch, the daily newsletter for the Metropolitan Police. Her essay described how her faith helped her through the events of January 6th, when her mother was a police officer assisting at the Capitol building. Congratulations, Janel and thank you for your service Mrs. Spriggs! Read Janel's essay here.
Virtual Coffee Chats
Based on feedback from parents and recent attendance, Friday morning coffee chats will be reduced to once per month and will include all grades. Please join Mrs. Lewis on Friday February 12th at 8:30am to provide feedback, ask questions, and just say hello! A reminder email will be sent that morning.
Survey Summary Report
The following changes will be put into place as a result of the feedback given:
- Core teachers that are out sick will be replaced with a live substitute for at least half of the day.
- Teachers will be provided with detailed feedback from survey pertaining to their class and use it to plan future instruction.
- Snow Days going forward will be remote learning days. Staff will do their best to ensure that in-person students will be sent home with all needed materials if inclement weather is in the immediate forecast. Two hour delays will remain a 10:30AM start time for all students to allow for safe travel before the start of classes.
- The school will continue to work with the Archdiocese and the local health department to ensure that all our teachers have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Once this is achieved, the School Advisory Board will revisit the current learning model and evaluate if changes are needed in the fourth quarter.
- The administration will reach out to each family individually by the end of February to see what support is needed for the second half of the year.
Please continue to share your questions, concerns, and compliments. We love having you as part of our SMA family!
