PRINCIPALS WELCOME
Dear Vickers Students and Families,
Welcome back to another exciting school year filled with endless opportunities and new beginnings! As the leaves start to change and we feel the cool autumn breezes, we embark on a journey of growth, learning, and success.
I hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with laughter, relaxation, and memorable experiences. Now, it's time to channel that energy and enthusiasm into your school work and personal development. Our theme this year is to “Level Up” and I challenge you to not only do your best academically but to strive to be the best person you can be. Each new day is a chance to level up – academically, socially, and individually.
Our dedicated staff is here to support you every step of the way. Whether you're navigating a challenging math problem, exploring a new artistic technique, or honing your leadership skills, know that you have a team of educators who believe in your potential and are ready to guide you towards success.
Remember, growth doesn't happen in a comfort zone. Embrace challenges as opportunities to expand your horizons. Make it your goal to push past your limits, explore new subjects, and discover talents you never knew you had. This year is a blank canvas waiting for you to paint your story of achievement and personal growth.
Let's create a welcoming and inclusive community where each of you feels valued and empowered. Reach out to your classmates, make new friends, and participate in the various extracurricular activities and clubs that Vickers has to offer. Your unique perspectives and passions create the vibrant community we know and love.
Stay engaged, stay curious, and most importantly, stay true to yourselves. The journey ahead might have its twists and turns, but remember that you are resilient and capable of greatness. Together, let's make this academic year one to remember – full of achievements, laughter, and shared experiences.
Here's to a fantastic September and an even greater year ahead! Let's level up and make it a year of remarkable growth and achievement.
With warmest regards,
Mrs. Jennie Green
Principal
Wear orange
Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 29th.
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day that honours the children who survived residential schools and remembers those who did not. This day relates to the experience of Phyllis Webstad, a Northern Secwepemc (Shuswap) from the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation, on her first day of school, where she arrived dressed in a new orange shirt, which was taken from her. It is now a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
On September 29, we encourage all Canadians to wear orange to raise awareness of the very tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of Survivors.

The fee is $10.75 for Kindergarten and $21.00 for Gr 1-8 & Dev Ed.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Our staff parking lots are a “no drop off zone” as they are out of bounds for students.
We urge parents to support us in this safety endeavor by dropping off your children on the west side of the school on Olive Diefenbaker Drive; on Bradbury Drive, east of the Special Needs bus zone and between Gisi Road and Olive Diefenbaker Drive.
We encourage the children to cross all streets in a safe manner by crossing at the corner or at cross walks. Teacher supervision is also provided at our major crosswalks.
The Community Club rink parking lot is the bus pick up zone after school for our parents to meet their children for pick up. Please refrain from turning around in the driveways, as this is disruptive to the homeowners.
