6th Grade Small Groups Mrs. James and Mr. Carr have begun meeting with all sixth grade students in a small group format to introduce themselves and offer some conversations about adjusting to middle school. We are meeting with students during their JAG period for 2 sessions and working through a fun and helpful workbook.
Some of the topics in these conversations include:
Opportunities and Challenges Character and Respect
Getting to know adults in the Building Future Planning and Careers
Organization, Attendance, and Homework Making Good Choices
Setting Goals Being Healthy and Managing Stress Getting along with Parents &
Getting involved Teachers
Students are encouraged to bring their book home and complete the remaining pages (one page includes a Parent Interview) and bring them back (just to verify) in order to receive a bracelet that sports our schools’ mission statement, “Link Together. Learn Forever.” Remind your students we have a bracelet for them when they show us they have completed their booklet and have fun being interviewed.
A special THANK YOU to the LMS PTO who helped us purchase enough books for each student. Thank you to the many parents and guardians who help support our fundraising efforts so we have access to helpful resources.
