CTE Drop Off Reminder:

CTE Drop off and pick up lane is the lane on the far right. It is dangerous for CTE student to get out of cars on the driveway hill. Please drop all students off after going around the corner and when you are in front of or past the flag pole in front of the CTE Office.

Remember to Vote November 8th!

As you are likely aware, there is an important election Tuesday, November 8, 2022. We encourage you to cast your ballot. You can vote by mail or vote in person. Lists of in-person polling places for both Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties are provided below:

Do you enjoy helping children? We need a substitute on occasion for our School Health Clerk. You would help students who aren't feeling well, tend to scrapes, apply ice packs, etc.

At the Saturday Graveyard Grapplers tournament CTE had a great showing! There were some really strong programs from outside our league there, so it was a great chance for our wrestlers to get some challenges. On the team side compared to our league, we tied for 3rd on the varsity team score with several strong programs from our league-- Union and TKA, with Fisher and Hoover finishing in 1st and 2nd respectively.

On the individual side for Varsity, William and Eleni placed 2nd, and Lyla tied for 5th.

For JV: Colton, Brendan and Cruz placed 1st, Madison placed 2nd and Faustus and Liam placed 4th.

There were some amazing moments (Brendan coming from behind to win his first place match in the last few seconds, Madison going into multiple overtimes, Eleni holding her own against a really tough opponent, Charlotte getting pumped from her final match, Zara smiling through her matches...) But all of our wrestlers showed toughness and aggressiveness in their matches.

1. We need help serving breakfast and lunch to our 434 students at Loma & CT who are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch daily.

2. Please contact our food service coordinator, Craig Ponkey @ c.ponkey@lpjusd.us for volunteer opportunities to speed up the distribution process.
   

With the September 19, 2022 decision from CDPH regarding lifting the requirement for unvaccinated employees to submit to weekly Covid testing, our District, in collaboration with our union leadership teams, have agreed to lift the Covid testing requirement for unvaccinated volunteers effective October 5, 2022. As always, safety remains our top priority and we will continue to have test kits available for staff, students, and volunteers to use as necessary. In addition, we would continue to stress that should a student, staff member, or volunteer feel ill or have symptoms, please remain away from the school site so that others would not be exposed to any illnesses.

Parents and Students-

The Summit Store has notified the district that effective today, NO students are allowed to be at the store unsupervised (without a parent), especially on Fridays.

The store will revisit this decision in December. In the meantime, please talk with your child (and their friends) about what the expected behavior is when interacting with summit store staff and patrons.

If your child is going to cross the bridge you after school, you must submit a note to the school secretary. Lisa at Loma; Julie at CT

Please remind your child that they MUST cross using the bridge and not to run across Summit Road.

Short-term Independent Study Application requests need to made at least two weeks prior to the date of the first absence. Please complete the independent study application if your child(ren) will be absent five or more consecutive school days for purposes of a family event or outside learning opportunities. Vacations do not qualify for independent study. To complete the application process, please enter information on the application form, print the application, and submit a copy of the application to your child(ren)'s teacher (if attending Loma Prieta Elementary) or the school secretary (if attending CT English).

Guided by our concern for the safety of all children, and in compliance with State Law, please remind your children that they must wear a helmet when riding a bike, scooter or skateboard. Thanks for your support in reenforcing this safety law.

CT Middle Schoolers had an amazing assembly with Deputy Curtis Harrison, a School Resource Officer (SRO), to discuss cyberbully as well as promote a school culture where everyone feels safe and welcomed at school. Click here for parent and student resources.

We encourage you to consider using our school buses to transport your child to and from school to reduce the campus traffic and increase our parking lot safety. Bus pass information is available in both school offices.

We are a PEANUT FREE school district. Please do not send your child to school with peanuts or other peanut products including peanut butter.

We do have some classrooms with students who have life threatening allergies to other nuts. If your child has peers in their classroom with allergies to other nuts, your child’s teacher will inform you that your child’s classroom is a nut free space.

Kindergarten dismisses each day at 1:30pm, except on minimum days where students are dismissed at 12:30pm. We will communicate with you when a minimum day occurs.

1st-8th graders are dismissed at 2:45pm, except for Wednesdays where students are dismissed at 1:30pm.
