In the classroom we have been discussing the LIFESKILL of
Problem Solving.
In Kindergarten and 1st Grade we have been learning about Kelso and his 9 Choices. Students know the difference between fly problems and alligator problems and how to solve these problems. Ask your child about Kelso and his 9 Choices!!! Soon they will be applying Kelso's 9 Choices to scenarios.
In 2nd Grade we have also learned about Kelso's Choices. Students are acting out scenarios and how to solve them using Kelso's Choices. We are pulling out the red carpet next class and videotaping their skits.
In 3rd-5th Grade we have been learning about big problems and small problems and how to solve them using a problem solving wheel. Students are practicing how to solve small problems by using two choices on the problem solving wheel before getting help from an adult. For big problems, students immediately get an adult that they trust!
In lessons to come we will be applying the 7 Habits Strategy: Seeking First to Understand Then To Be Understood to solve problems.
