The World of Westwood Wolves
Choose Your Own Adventure!
Jan. 17-21, 2022
From the principal's office...
Thank you for hanging in there with us these last few weeks. Like the rest of the state/district, COVID is definitely having an impact on us. Mrs. Tompkins and I hate having to call many of you with news of exposure. We appreciate your kindness and understanding during this very challenging time. However, the good news is we have been able to hang in there with enough staff to keep teaching and learning. We are not anticipating having to go virtual at this time, but rest assured we will send out information in a timely manner if things do change.
Please continue to complete the COVID forms online- positive if your Westwood student tests positive or household exposure if someone a student has been around tests positive. The district is accepting at home tests results.
If your student is positive and is having symptoms, please communicate with your teacher or the office if your child is too ill to complete the remote work. We are trying to ensure we mark attendance accurately- huge thanks to Mrs. Griselda for working hard to keep all that straight!
I hope you're enjoying this cold, snowy weekend- remember, no school Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr Day.
It looks like the weather will be fine for us to return Tuesday as planned, so please help your student be sure to pack devices/chargers to bring back to school.
Love,
Mrs. Crumby (your proud principal)
Upcoming Dates/Events:
Jan. 17- no school- Martin Luther King Jr.
Running Club- Mondays and Wednesdays until 3:30
Choir- Tuesdays until 3:45
Ukelele Club- Thursdays until 3:30
COVID Updates:
- The test to stay length is now 5 days instead of 7.
- Isolation and Quarantine changes: Can return 5 days after the day of exposure, if no symptoms or if symptoms are improving, and continue to wear a mask for 5 more days
- Children who are fully vaccinated (have had both COVID shots) do NOT have to quarantine if exposed (this has always been the rule- just a reminder)
- If your child tests positive or has been exposed, please complete the form on the district website and someone will contact you about a return date. This form is very important because it helps us document attendance so a student will not have unexcused absences. Teachers will gather work so that students can work at home during this time. www.sdale.org/page/covid
- Test-to-Stay is still an option if your child is exposed at school. When we contact you about a possible exposure, we will review your options. However, Test-to-Stay is not an option for household exposures/outside-of-school exposures.
- If you have multiple children, only the child who has actually been exposed has to quarantine. Other siblings do not unless someone in the home tests positive.
