Kinder Newsletter March
2020
From the Director
Hello March!
March is a reminder that spring is just around the corner; our busy February is over and we can look forward to beautiful spring days.
Thank you all for using parent conference day to communicate student progress to families. Families are a critical partner in educating students for the best outcomes and I hope you will continue the conversation on how to strengthen that partnership. The newsletter is packed with ideas for you to use. I hope you find it useful to support your classroom instruction.
HAVE A MARVELOUS MARCH and a fabulous spring break!

Have you checked out the Kinder CCC Module for ELAR?
ELAR Core Content Coaching modules are now available on the Early Childhood Curriculum websites. The guides are not lesson plans, but instead are a planning tool. They are supplemental support and cover only a sample of the standards to be taught in each module.
The CCC module number is aligned to the HMH Into Reading module number. Currently, Kinder Module 7, is available for teachers to access. The rest of the modules will be posted soon.
Don't forget to check out the Math CCC modules as well!
Literacy Academies
integration across content areas
As students discover new information through informational text, support student connection to the science and math learning. In science students are investigating and reasoning by collecting information using tools which include using non-standard units of measurement. This fits in the math lessons that focus on measurement and the attributes of measurement. Students should be working to compare objects using different measurement attributes, for example, the plant is taller than that plant. This bug is lighter than the rock. The cheetah runs faster than an elephant.
