Dear Silver Spring International Families,
It's been a banner opening week! We've managed to distribute or exchange Chromebooks for all 3 grade levels, distribute lockers for all grade levels, balance the 4 lunches, sort out schedule changes, communicate school expectations, and begin the critical work of building solid relationships with our students .... and we LOVED every minute of it!
I am impressed with your children. Our 7th and 8th graders are making a hard-pivot in the way they handle their Personal Mobile Devices (PMDs) to adhere to this year's new policy ("off and away all day"). They did a nice job with it this week and we will continue to work with them to responsibly manage PMDs while in school. Our 6th graders have brought us much joy and enthusiasm this week. We are happy to have them here. Our Teachers are centering student engagement during instruction and setting academic and achievement goals for each child. We are making success intentional at SSIMS.
Thank you for the emails you've sent my way this week detailing your child's positive experiences during the first week of school. May they have many more to come.
