October Event - Two Day Agility Trial VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Our October event is our two day All Breed Agility Trial which will take place on Sat and Sun 10/26-10/27. The location is Frederick Indoor Sports Center 1845 Brookfield CT Frederick MD 21701. There will also be a Board Meeting on Saturday 10/26 at the end of trial runs. We need lots of volunteers for this event. Most of the jobs require NO EXPERIENCE and you'll be able to take in all the fun and excitement of seeing all these canine athletes going all out. There are jobs such as:

Leash Runner - the volunteer picks up the leash at the start of the course and places the leash at the end of the course for the dog handler.


Score Runner - the volunteer walks a number of score sheets (5 or so at a time) over to the Event Secretary so that scores can be recorded quickly and avoid a logjam.


Timer - the volunteer starts an automated timer as the trial judge directs and reports the time of each run to the scribe.


Bar Reset Crew - the volunteer sits on the course and resets bars at color coded heights if a dog knocks one over during its run.


All volunteers will get a free lunch each day. Please contact our excellent Agility Chair, Linda Porter at tweeddale@myactv.net to volunteer. Volunteers should be onsite by 10:00am each day. Agility Trial Committee members should be on site by 7:30am or earlier.

November Event - Annual Meeting and Beardie Bounce

Beth Jacobs has volunteered to host this event at her home in Columbia MD. This will be the usual fun beardie bounce with club members bringing pot luck dishes to share. This will be on Sunday Nov 17th from 1 - 4pm. Beth's address is 10709 Judy Ln Columbia MD. December Events - Scottish Christmas Walk and Holiday Party

Beardies will be marching once again in the Scottish Christmas Walk, a parade of bagpipe bands and Scottish Clans through the streets of Old Town Alexandria on Saturday Dec 7th. This will be followed by the club's Holiday Party on Sunday Dec 8th at the home of Lynne Corn in Fairfax VA. More details will be forthcoming about these events in future newsletters.
