Riverbend Roundup

Riverbend will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on 2/9/22. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. The assessment is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. The results are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public.

Fifty 8th grade students were randomly selected by the testing agency to participate. Those student's families were notified with a letter that was mailed home when we returned from our Holiday Break. If you did not receive a copy of this letter, your student will not be testing. (Please see a copy of the letter below for reference.)

If your student was one of the selected participants, please encourage them to give their best effort. Students have been divided into a morning and afternoon testing group. So they will only be missing a portion of their classes on this day.

8th grade students will be meeting with high school counselors during their history classes on 2/16 and 2/17 to begin registering for their high school courses. Those students without a history class will be scheduled for separate appointments with counselors on those dates as well. All 8th grade students will meet with Mrs. Ellis on 2/10 to hear a presentation about the available high school courses. They will be bringing home paperwork for parents/guardians to sign prior to registering for their classes. Please email Mrs. Ellis at mellis@mvr3.k12.mo.us with any questions.

If your child is currently in FACS, please have sewing materials sent in by February 11th. The required item list was sent home via email several times this trimester. Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams as they concluded their seasons last week. The 7th grade finished up the season winning 5 of their last 6 games and winning the Consolation Championship of the Sullivan Tournament by beating Union.

The 8th grade team completed an undefeated season going 16-0. They capped it off with a thrilling double overtime win over St. James in the Championship game of the St. Clair Tournament.
