November 2022
A message from the principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This has been a beautiful fall season. I hope you have had an opportunity to enjoy it. As we approach the winter months please remember to send your child dressed for the cold and snow. If you drop off and pick up your child at door 3 remember to get in the line along the curb and do not block a driveway. Homeowners need to be able to get in and out of their driveway at all times. We ask for your patience as the line gets longer and the access to the sidewalk is more limited, which slows down the process.
We hope to see many families at the Family Math Night in November. We will be serving a spaghetti dinner at no cost to families to start the evening. Enjoy the many fun math activities. Everyone is welcome to attend even if you have not registered in advance.
Mrs. Ray
Students should enter and exit the car on the passenger side of the car for safety reasons. Also parents should not block the driveways of the residences on Wingfield Ave. And lastly, make sure that all cars have their students' pink paper with their names visible so staff can see them.
If you need to change the way your student goes home, please call the office at 763-506-2600 before 3:30pm. For the safety of all our students, we are unable to accommodate changes once dismissal starts.

Volunteer news
A Note from the Volunteer Services Coordinator
his was a big week for volunteers at Franklin! We had many of you come in for the parade, our reading helpers stopped by, and teachers continued to receive support with their classroom projects. Thank you for supporting us in so many ways and making a positive impact on our school!
Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:
- K-Skillbuilders. View a training, then work one-on-one with students to build their math and literacy skills. School day hours. Sign up here to indicate your availability and receive more details.
Remember:
Before volunteering, you must fill out the Volunteer Application for Franklin Elementary. This needs to be done each year. We look forward to seeing you!
Health services
Coughs and colds are very prevalent right now. Please practice covering your cough and washing hands frequently with your student! If they can't cover their cough well, a mask is encouraged. Continue to follow the guidelines for return to school. PLEASE REMEMBER TO CALL THE ATTENDANCE LINE EVERY DAY YOUR STUDENT IS ILL. Even if the health office has told you your student should stay home the next day, you still need to call. The attendance line number is 763-506-2606.
You are welcome to call the health office during school hours at 763-506-2604 regarding your student’s health concerns.
Your child MUST stay home for at least 24 hours after symptom resolution if they have one symptom from this list:
Fever of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
Vomiting
Diarrhea
New Rash
Student may return to school when they have been symptom free for 24 hours, and feel well enough to participate in normal, daily activities.
Regarding Covid-19, testing is not required to return to school. Follow above guidelines for return. If Covid-19 test is positive, we recommend you keep your child home for 5 days, and then wear a face covering for an additional 5 days. This is recommended, not required.
Refer to “Is My Child Well Enough to Go to School” handout for more information.
