Metro RESA is proud to offer a six-month, in-person academy created for both new and experienced instructional coaches led by expert leaders in the field.
The Metro RESA Coaching Connections Academy is a focused, engaging, and intensive professional development opportunity available to Metro Atlanta instructional coaches that will begin in the Fall of 2023. The academy aims to provide a big-picture view of instructional coaching, while still diving in deep to develop crucial skills and strategies instructional coaches need to know to become successful coaching partners with the educators and students they serve. Each session will leave participants with the tools and resources needed to successfully implement in their respective learning communities upon their return. The Gifted In-Field Endorsement at Metro RESA is a GaPSC approved preparation program that provides approved candidates with the coursework and related field experience required to add the Gifted In-Field Endorsement to a current standard Georgia Professional Certificate. The endorsement is designed to train candidates to identify and teach gifted students from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds. Program candidates will complete 200 hours of coursework and applied field experiences; content knowledge will be integrated across courses to help ensure mastery and coverage.

The Teacher Leader Endorsement at Metro RESA is a GaPSC approved preparation program that provides approved candidates with the coursework and related field experience required to add the Teacher Leader Endorsement to a current standard Georgia Professional Certificate. Within the year-long endorsement, candidates focus on developing peer and collegial leadership skills. Key elements of the endorsement include promoting effective communication skills, building relationships, developing coaching skills, and broadening perspectives related to district and school leadership. Participants complete a clinical supervision cycle, design an action research project, develop a professional growth plan, create, and deliver a professional learning workshop, facilitate a professional learning team meeting, participate in local governance activities, and work with a site supervisor to better understand building leadership challenges and procedures.

Come Learn with Us! Implementing the Restorative Practices Continuum in K-12 Schools Professional Development
Target Audience: Teachers, Administrators/Leaders, School Support Personnel
Participants in this course will receive direct instruction on how to wisely implement each stage of the Restorative Practices continuum (Watchel, 2013) within their classrooms and schools. Best practices and rehearsals will be included for each stage from informal and proactive to formal and reactive responses. This course is specifically designed for those working in the education realm that are looking for alternatives to suspension and opportunities for educator mental wellness. The posture of the presenter’s heart is that we should BE restorative and not DO restorative practices. Knowing this, participants should come prepared to: -address their own beliefs and thought patterns towards student behaviors - be more curious than certain with their own stories -renew their joy by leaving with practical resources to cultivate a restorative culture Register today!

Sherry Parrish Number Talks: Whole Number Computation Workshop August 2023 - Registration Now Open!
Join Metro RESA as we host Sherry Parrish for Number Talks training. Number Talks are five-to-fifteen-minute conversations that focus on intentional computation problems, or number strings, that build mental computation strategies and number sense in mathematics. Number Talks support students with becoming fluent mathematicians who solve problems accurately, efficiently, and flexibly and communicate their understanding and reasoning of mathematics. In this professional learning session, educators will explore the rationale for Number Talks, rehearse the process, review common strategies, observe Number Talks in action with students, and plan for classroom implementation.

GNETS Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Training Course
Hosted by GNETS, the Applied Behavior Analysis for Practitioners course will provide training on behavioral principles and procedures for individuals seeking Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification. This course includes face-to-face lectures and application activities in ethics, observation and data collection, skill acquisition plans and procedures, and behavior reduction plans and procedures. This training program is based on the Behavior Analyst Certified Board (BACB) RBT Task List 2 and is designed to meet or exceed the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT credential. The program is offered independently of the BACB and is unique in that we offer the course as a face-to-face interactive option so participants can interact with their instructors live. Participants are encouraged to register for each session which serves as a full RBT course if they are interested in registering to take the RBT exam. Participants must register for each session separately and the cost is $50 per session. Participants can register for each session separately and the cost is $50 per session. Participants can register for all or some of the sessions. However, a certificate of completion will only be issued to persons who complete all sessions in sequential order.

MHAT Menu- GaDOE
Since 2018, the GaDOE has partnered with the Georgia RESAs to provide mental health training (MHAT) to school staff through the RESA/GaDOE MHAT Project. The Project brings high-quality, evidence-informed, and evidence-based training to schools and districts throughout the state. The catalog of trainings can be used as a tool to identify training that is designed to support the mental health awareness of school staff, community members, caregivers, and students at all levels of prevention and intervention, from awareness to gatekeeper.
