Our work with NMSI has helped us learn about "The Power of the 2". Research states that students receiving a score of a "2" are just as prepared as students receiving a "3" on an AP exam for longitudinal college success. These students all learn grit, perseverance, organizational skills and self-advocacy required for success in higher learning and the workforce. See data reinforcing this concept below.

There are excellent perks to enrolling in STEM AP course at Cole. See some of those below.

1. Each subject is provided three student study sessions. Each study session covers different topics based on the information students learn throughout the school year, so it is important to attend each one.
2. These sessions are review opportunities for students to internalize learned information and practice applying a single-subject mindset for a four hour period - the same period of time students receive to take the AP exam at the end of the school year. The learning and networking that takes place is invaluable for student success and content mastery.
3. Students are required to register for sessions through Eventbrite 30-days before the event date. This can be done in class with the AP teacher.
   
4. Transportation for sessions is provided by Cole. Permission slips must be signed by parents to specify travel plans.
5. Students are provided refreshments, pizza and opportunities for prize giveaways during the event.

Along with the second round of student study sessions, students will participate in Mock Exam sessions for each participating AP course to increase their time on task and build their capacity for a higher AP exam grade. Students can use their scores to gauge closeness to qualifying college readiness scores. Teachers will use this information to plan their approaches for the final stretch of instruction and identify ways to improve their practice to better serve our military children.

Mock Exams will take place at the District Professional Development Center from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on the selected date.
